719.0. "Documentation search " by GAON::jem () Wed Jun 21 1989 13:22

Does anyone have copies of the original U.N. resolutions 242 & 338? Much
obliged.
In addition, does any one know how or if I could get hold of documentation
of Palestinian terrorist attacks over the last 2 years? Thanks.

    RE: .0

   >Does anyone have copies of the original U.N. resolutions 242 & 338?

    No, but U.N. docs can be found in most research libraries and many
    public libraries. Also, the N.Y. Times usually prints the texts of
    significant resolutions and many public libraries have the NYT on
    microfilm.

    One source might be American Israel Public Affairs Committee,
    Washington (sorry, rest of address is at home). Another might be your
    nearest Israeli consulate.

How do you define Palestinian terrorist attacks?

I can't give you a complete list of all attacks on Jewish life and property,
but for eye-openers, I can give you a list of the occasions that I and my
family have been attacked with lethal weapons (rocks and iron bars)
in the last 15 months.

30-3-88 16:30 Daheishe Iron bar thrown at car with whole family in it.
                             Minimal damage to rubber between window and door
12-2-89 17:00 El-Hadr Rock thrown at car which missed. One b---d stood
                             close to the road and yelled to the other b---d
                             when to throw.
19-2-89 19:00 Bethlehem Stone thrown which hit side window next to driver's
                             head. Protective window shield saved me from
                             serious injury.
28-2-89 18:00 500m before Daheishe Iron bar thrown at car (kids inside),
                             slight damage to bodywork.
18-4-89 13:00 100m before Daheishe Rock thrown at car from vineyard (kids
                             inside) - large dent in body near gas tank.
07-6-89  10:30  Daheishe     Young b---d (about 15) waited till I came almost
                             next to him (I intentionally travel slow, the
                             effect of being hit is lessened, the experts say),
                             took aim and threw a rock which hit right in the
                             middle of the front windscreen. Didn't break it,
                             (a miracle) but scratched the glass.

I haven't bored you with the occasions the family has been hit travelling on
public transport, simply the number of times that one car of one Jew who dares
to live in Efrat, midway between Bethlehem and Hebron.

(Hey, isn't that territory supposed to be Judenrein??)

Yeah, I know you don't call those "Palestinian terrorist attacks", but let me
assure you, those guys weren't trying to tickle us with their iron bars and
rocks.

    	Jimmy Carter placed the texts of 242 and 338 into appendices of one
    of his books. I can't remember whether it's in his memoirs or in his
    book about the Middle East. Both books should be available at
    bookstores or libraries.

719.8And you think *you* live in a tough neighborhood!TAV02::SIDSun Jun 25 1989 12:4611
re < Note 719.3 by TAVIS::JONATHAN >:

An amazing chronicle, Jonathan, thanks for sharing.

I wonder if there are any neighborhoods in the States where commuters
are thus abused and endangered day after day, month after month for a year
and a half.
Of course not! The police would put a stop to it in short order. And I
doubt whether they would be condemned by the whole world for it.

    A little belated, but thank you all for your replies, I got the
    documents I was looking for (re: .3 Chazak Ve-ematz!!).
    Anyway, maybe y'all can help me out some more:
    1) We hear about articles that PLO officials write in Arabic that
       totally contradict what they say to the English-speaking world
       (i.e. the West Bank and Gaza are just the first steps to a
       "Greater Palestine"). Anyone have copies of such articles (hope-
       fully in English or Hebrew, but Arabic will do, too)?
    2) Jonathan (.3), can you tell me the approximate ages of the youngest
       rock-throwing terrorists you've encountered or heard/read about?

    In case you haven't guessed, there's a big-mouth PLO sympathizer here
    at the office, who needs to be enlightened (as well as the other people
    he poisons). The docs all of you helped me get stopped him in his
    tracks temporarily, but I want to go for the jugular. Unfortunately,
    there are many haters out there, and we need to be prepared with hard
    facts (just as we need to study Tanach if for no other reason than to
    answer those who would mislead us).

I saw my assailants in only two of the six incidents, I listed.
Here the approx.age was about 15.

Neighbours have told me of kids 8-9 years old throwing rocks at them.
There are stories of these kids being paid for "direct hits".

The two Gazan residents arrested last Friday, for the knife-death of a
64 year-old Jewish building contractor a few hours earlier in Gan Yavne,
were 16 years old.

719.11Do not do onto others...SUTRA::LEHKYI'm phlegmatic, and that's cool.Thu Jul 20 1989 13:5714
    re. some back:

    Maybe it's a common phrase in the US, then pardon my ignorance. If not,
    why would you like to go for the guy's "jugular"?

    You've successfully stopped a problem, exposing this particular person
    to incredibility and probably something short of ridicule. What else do
    you need to achieve? Humiliate him?

    Try to educate him, instead.

    Diplomatically yours,

719.12An ongoing SagaIRT::STEINBERGThu Jul 20 1989 17:1613
    Re: .11

    As I mentioned, he was halted only temporarily. He's always coming up
    with new accusations (i.e. Israelis terrorize innocent Lebonese
    civilians with their "indescriminate" bombings). Although I know it's
    all hogwash, there's nothing like hard facts (and it's useless to argue
    without them). In addition, I believe documentation would be helpful
    to other members of this conference, as well.
    BTW, I have recently discovered an organization called "Victims of
    Arab Terror", at 1 Penn Plaza N.Y., N.Y. 10121. They have alot of
    up-to-date info, and are very helpful.
