651.0. "New Synagogue in Concord, MA" by DELNI::C_MILLER () Fri Feb 24 1989 15:12

Does anyone have any information about the new synagogue being built
on Rte 2 in Concord? Will it be reform? conservative? when will
it be open? will there be a drive for new members? Thanks

651.1as close to Reconstructionist as you find locally?DELNI::GOLDSTEINRoom 101, Ministry of LoveMon Feb 27 1989 18:122
I am under the impression that the Concord Area Jewish Group (?) is
unaffiliated but with a Reconstructionist rabbi.

When my husband and I were house hunting last year, several realtors
told us about the syngogue and put us in touch with current members.
I spoke to several of these people and felt I wanted a more traditional
synagogue than the reconstructionists can give me.

I think area realtors still have information about the congregation.

    Yours,
    Meredith

I don't want to be picky, but the CAJG is not necessarily an example of
a Reconstructionist congregation. Although Lukens is a graduate of the
Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, his congregation is not
explicitly Reconstructionist. (Although I know Lukens, I have not
attended CAJG services, so this is not meant as criticism; I just
wanted to make the point that one should not generalize about
Reconstructionists on the basis of CAJG practice.)
