806.0. "Christy's New Song ...." by ACTGSF::BURNS (Is the whole world aGuinness) Fri Sep 14 1990 15:40

Does Christy Moore have some new song/album that is currently
on the "Top-10" in Ireland ???

I hear that there is a "Poster" that is being distributed in
reference to promoting this new song/album ...

Is there any chance that someone in Ireland could pick up this poster
for me, if such an item is still available ???

I'd gladly repay for any of the associated costs ...

    	----------------------------------------------------------------

The poster (or ANY other Irish Paraphernalia) associated with
Christ Moore or Irish Pubs would be greatly appreciated, as I am
in the process of setting up a small "Irish Pub" in the basement
of my house. My "Pub" is affectionately refered to as "The 33rd County"
where Irish music can be found playing at all hours of the day and
night. (As several of the Celt noters can attest to) :-)

So next time any of ye are in a pub, look around for anything that's
not nailed/screwed down, and ask yourself this question .....

"I wonder if keVin would like that for his pub" ??	:-)

If it has a Guinness or Harp or any other Irish logo ...
then the answer is YES !!!!

Posters, napkins, matches, drink coasters/mats , etc etc

That "Christy Poster" sure would look nice over my bar !!! :-)

Christy's new song is called 'Welcome To The Cabaret'. It's a
sort of rehash of his older type 'Listoonvarna' 'Don't Forget
Your Shovel(if you want to go to work!)' etc...I don't know if
Christy is taking the piss out of himself, the Media or the buying
public? It kinda grows on you after a few listens just like peat moss!

I'll keep my eyes peeled(and my fingers frisky!) from now on in the
    pubs of Galway.

    Rgds.,

    	Thanks Dave ....

I know it's only on the "Rare Occassion" that you would even set
foot inside a pub, so I appreciate the great effort your about to
put forth on my behalf .... :-)

    KeVin,

I have no problem setting my feet inside a pub. However, the problem
is afterwards finding my feet and setting them outside!

There are art critics, drama critics, and restaurant critics, etc.

Having been to Burns' Bar & Grille, (a.k.a. the Peter Rd. Pub)
on a few occasions, I thought i might put in a review of this
    local watering hole.

First off, the ambiance is quite good: why you'd think you were
in a pub anywhere Ireland. Well, maybe not Ireland in general,
definitely not Cork, perhaps somehwere in Clare as an approximate location.

The beer/ale/porter selection is a bit thin, as another critic
around here has already stated: in my few visits to Burns', I have
yet see any Murphy's stout on tap. But the other selections are
suitable. And while there is an ample selection of spirits to be had,
Cork Dry Gin was noticably absent. This was disappointing for me
personally considering the importance of Cork on the Irish sporting
scene. :-> On the plus side, the poteen is strong and plentiful,
and it makes a great substitute in my favorite mixed drink, a "BB" :->

Service is quick, courteous, and friendly. The barman is knowledgeable
about all things Irish. West of the Shannon. :->

All in all, a delightful exerience awaits the thirsty traveller at
Burns' Bar & Grille. And when you're there, tell the barman you want
    a "BB" made with CDG.
806.8Now I know why you were "Bounced" from EVERY pub in Doolin !!!ACTGSF::BURNSIs the whole world aGuinnessMon Sep 17 1990 18:1916

806.17Happy Birthday Christy MooreFORTY2::DONOVANWed May 10 1995 11:118
Happy 50th birthday to Christy Moore ! I nearly ran him over in a
car park last week, but he managed to get out of the way in time.

He sits down on stage now, and has taken to wearing a little
black hat; I thought he was a parish priest at first - strange . . .

	John
806.18When will he be touring the US again?ESBTST::GREENAWAYWed May 10 1995 15:068

If anyone hears of a US Christy tour let us know asap.
I've been listing to him a lot lately and could use a Christy fix.

I love his passion and style.

    Cheers,
    Paul
