972.0. "HELLO WILBUR !!!" by ACTGSF::BURNS () Tue Nov 19 1991 15:32

Lately I've noticed that when I watch Mr Ed (The Talking horse) that
his lips are often not in sinc with the words that he is speaking.

Is this due to the fact that some of the shows were filmed in
    foreign countries ??

Kinda like those old "Kung Foo" movies if you know what I mean.

Has anyone else noticed this ??

Hi KeVin, when you're done figuring this out, maybe you can explain why
space aliens always speak English, even the ones that don't have any lips
at all....

    KeVin,

Are you suffering from premature senility or have you just returned
to your childhood. I think all that illegal Clare water is having a
    strange effect on you.

Or maybe suffering from Guinness starvation

One good thing about premature senility is that you get to hide your
    own Easter Eggs ...

What is this thing called "Guinness" ???

972.53 cheers for Clare FM!!MACNAS::JDOOLEYTake no chances;Cry no tearsWed Nov 20 1991 12:5025
Let me take this opportunity to sing the praises of Clare FM,the local
radio station and its comprehensive coverage of traditional Irish
    music.
While the rest of them are slavishly copying each other playing
rap, house, rock or all that irrelevant foreign stuff Clare FM
are continuing that countys tradition of holding on and preserving
    our musical heritage.
I recently got a copy of Christy Moores "Prosperous" LP.
This was recorded in 1971 and its hard to believe that commonplace
songs like Spancil Hill and the Cliffs of Dooneen were virtually
unknown outside of Clare in 1971!!
In fact a lot of older people remember when The Music was regarded as
only fit for beggars and tinkers and had a very low image.
At that time Ireland was too busy being "fashionable" by espousing
pop and rock whose lyrics and values are totally irrelevant to the
    Irish scene.
We have just now witnessed the demise of our independant Radio station,
a station which went for the "safe" pop oriented Top-40 formula in
competition with RTE 2 a publicly owned Top-40 atation.
Century 100,as it was called, was getting to only 18% of the population,
not enough to pay its way and satisfy the advertisers.
At least I hope we are now spared the American nightmare of 100's of
"muzak" stations all sounding alike, all appealing to the same audience
of cloth-eared zombies who wouldn't know a good tune if it bit them!!

And the weekend broadcast of a program called
"The Mist Covered Mountains" on Clare FM is
is also fantastic for coverage of Tradition
Irish Music. A few friends have been nice
enough to send me a few tapes and a Clare FM
    	tee-shirt ....

I actually have a scanned Image online for
the Clare FM Logo in DECimage format.

I got mine back in the early 70's. It was my first time hearing
Christy Moore. It is amazing how good the music was back then...

Of course keVin will undoubtably have something to add but the truth
be known he and I were in Clare for a week and he wasn't able to listen
to any music due to taste testing the Guiness.

    >How did we get from Mr ED to Clare FM ................

Because Mr ED is originally from Clare.

You can tell 'cause his lips don't move in sync with his words !

Ok Burns and co....cut it out. This note MUST remain within it's
boundaries and KEEP OUTTA MY SPACE. I see a non-relevant Mr. Ed note
has overrun 972 and flowed right into 973! Unbelievable...no wonder
last year's holiday note had 78 replies with about 4 related to XMAS
    parties.

Control your cronies or you'll have to ante up more munchkins!

Oh, and just so you can't say my note isn't RELEVANT TO THIS TOPIC:

Trivia: Mr. Ed was the first television show to contain a talking
    animal of any kind!

Mr. Ed speaks with a Clare accent, that's why there are these
    syncronisation problems you mention.
