RE: Where to see the match:

After considerable calling and asking friends where I might be able to watch
this Sunday's match, here's the story I have so far:

The match will be shown live at:

	Aquinas Junior College
	Newton
	617-969-4400

I called this number and the person who answered read me a flier that said
"The match will be shown starting @ 10 a.m. and will cost you a 'donation'
of $20. For further ticket information dial (617) 332-4815". I tried ringing
this number but never got any response.

You may also want to see a tape of the match. The Kinvara Pub (in Allston, I
think) will be showing a tape of the match Tuesday night starting at 5 p.m.
and playing it over and over (and over...) until closing.

Chris

p.s. I tried ringing the Village Cinema but got a message saying the phone
had been disconnected. I don't know whether this means the place has been
shut down or not.

    Hi Marto,

Im afraid that Tony Keady will not be playing....his suspension has
been upheld by the GAA Council?......I must admit they dont half make
themselves look stupid at times....Im sure his "crime" was pretty
trivial, playing in some so-called competitive game in NY. Now if
they dealt half as forcefully with those who go out with the intentions
of half-killing their opponents.....Im thinking of this years Munster
Final for starters....I know that the local papers in my part of the
world (Tipp) were up in arms over the display? that Waterford gave that
day. Even though Im from Tipperary ,Im genuinely sorry that TK will not
be playing...the punishment certainly does"ent fit the crime.

And may the best team win.....

And no I dont think Antrim will take Offaly but you never know

    Antrim 4-15 Offaly 1-15

I suspect that a certain Clare man may be SHOUTING here abouts
fairly shortly also as they beat Galway in the minor match by a
    couple of points.

623.7"ANTRIM ALL THE WAY"YUPPY::MAYBINCTue Aug 08 1989 15:1822
"Antrim all the way", I think that my home County will take the title
this year. And as it's my birthday around that time, I will be
going home to see it. Many of the lad's around home are still
celebrating, due to the news from back home. (I also have sunk a
    few pint's).

As my Camogie Team is leading, the league over here in England and
our championship is held around September I think it might be a
    double celebration!!

Tomorrow night I will be watching the match on video, so I'm looking
forward to that, I'm looking forward to seeing the Lad's back home
    in action.

Even if the Antrim Team don't win they'll put up a good fight, but
they have every chance of taking the title.

    "GOOD LUCK ANTRIM"

Paul Delaney is not playing for Tipp. He played some games in London
and Tipp, in the light of the Keady affair, are playing safe by
    excluding him.

I was at the Under 21 all-Ireland this weekend. It was held in
Portlaoise. The contenders were Tipp and offaly. There was a huge
crowd at this match and the start had to be delayed in order to
allow as many as possible in. The ground in Portlaoise would not
    hold them all.

Tipp won this one also. It was the best hurling match I have seen
all year. It was touch and go right up to the final whistle. Offally
missed a goal on the stroke of time. A screaming shot crossed the
goal and just went wide. Tipp won in the end by 2 points.

My faith in hurling was restored after this one. What I have seen
in the Senior ranks this year had almost made me dispair.

Next year is another story I hope to see a rejuvinated Cork next
year. The defeat by Waterford will galvanise them - I think. Congats
    to Tipp.

Galway need not blame the Ref either. He was equally unfair to both
sides. Indicipline lost Galway an all Ireland.

Rather than go into the semi-final saga all over again and the Tony
Keady affair(who was he dating anyways ;-)) lets congratulate Tipp
on an fine display of hurling and both Tipp and Antrim on a fine
display of sportsmanship in the final decider. Sure Antrim were
walloped(by 18 points) but it was no way a weak Antrim team...Tipp
just proved to be *great* team on the day...they were first to the
ball, showed great skill and most of all the more hungry!!! Yes
hopefully Antrim's day will come soon. I have to agree with Sean
and say that Nicky English is one of the best hurlers I've ever
seen...he rates with the other modern greats like Jimmy Barry Murphy
    Eddie Keher,The Hendersons,Tony Keady...and any day now I'll be
adding Pat Fox to that list. BTW a certain Mr Cashman(Cork) has
a very interesting article in Magill(the one with Willie John Mc
Bride on the cover) where he contrasts the so called Greats from
the past with the present day hurling greats.

I figure this Tipperary team will be lifting the McCarthy cup for
the next few years...however if Galway can regroup sufficiently
we could be in for some *crakers*!!! Cork,Kilkenny,Clare(hi Kevin)
will not remain dormant for ever though and Waterford,Antrim have
already proved what they are capable of. That was a good Offaly
U21 team and I also expect good things from them when the graduate
to the senior ranks...now who did I leave out...Dublin perhaps Nah!
    ;-)

Two rounds of the National hurling league have been played so far. There have
been some surprising results. The state of play is as follows.

Tipp have been beaten by Cork and Dublin

Galway have been beaten by Cork and Dublin

Wexford have beaten Limerick and Antrim. Both of these matches were thrillers.

Kilkenny have beaten Limerick and Antrim. Again both these matches were very
						enjoyable.

This is turning out to be a very intriguing league. Dublin now meet Kilkenny
on Sunday week. Some matches I hope to attend over the winter are

Tipp V Galway ( there are a few scores to settle here. Is
				this in Thurles?)

	Galway V Kilkenny

	Wexford V Tipp

	Wexford V Kilkenny (Old rivals)

	Tipp V Kilkenny (Old enemies)

Kilkenny V Cork ( both these teams are rebuilding so tis could
be a classic. I think it will be played in
Kilkenny so its not too far)

Oh how I wish that the league was played in good weather - Not on waterlogged
pitches and freezing conditions.
