Interesting problem Joe, I was thinking of doing a similar thing
myself and have seen unaccompanied children on Aer Lingus
flights. So I rang Aer Lingus for the full details.
The deal is that on Flights between Ireland and the UK the minimum
age for an unaccompanied minor is 6 (they must be six on the day
they fly). Between Ireland and the US, the minimum age is 8.
Let me know if you get any reasonable response, cause I
may have the same situation around Halloween.

| I don't know about Aer Lingus, but when my daughter flew
Pan Am from Madrid to New York to Boston, it cost me
$30 for a stewardess to escort her - One was assigned to
her in Madrid, helped her through customs in New York
and delivered her to a second stewardess for the
New York to Boston leg. The stewardess who delivered
her to us in Boston checked our identification before
she would release her to us!!
Granted, it would be nicer to have someone you
"know of" to do the escorting, but the one time
I used the airline escort, I was pleased with
the service and found it not that expensive.
Does anyone know if Aer Lingus offers escort
service for young ones?

| Ask the airline to provide an escort free. If they don't, then threaten to
take your business elsewhere. My sister's kids flew several times from
Edinburgh to Libya with changes at London and Malta, and British Airways
were most obliging. It should be part of the service.
