840.0. "Working around lack of VMS allocation class" by PTOSS1::CYPHER () Fri Apr 11 1997 11:24

I have a dual Alphaserver 4100 SCSI cluster running VMS 6.2-1H3 and
HSOF 2.7-2. The config is pretty simple; 4 shelves with mirrorsets
and a TZ877 on bus 5 or 6. The curious thing is the tape shows
up on each system as a different-named device, suggesting there
are two seperate devices on the cluster.

We have the system allocation_class's set to "1". Any idea...?

Did you set the tape allocation class, TAPE_ALLOCLASS?

I think one can configure tape devices on multiple host SCSI buses but
they are not officially suppoted because of SCSI bus reset problem.
See SPEZKO::CLUSTER topic 4931 for futher information.
