Hi

Is there any guidelines for how many disk one
should configure in one raid5 set ??.
Is 10 disks to many ??
Would one get better performance with 6 disks

the spd defines how many devices and storage sets can be configured.

currently the max number is raid 5 is 14 devices as of 3.0.

Depending upon your i/o requests and sizes, you may or may not get
better performance, however if you are using more than one member of
a raid set on a single storage device shelf, if you lost that shelf or
port for any reason, then you lose more than one member of the raid set
    and then you are had.
