I need help in determining the value of the following:

1861 Springfield Musket, sling, documented owner. - missing Ram Rod.
    		Sold for $550.00

    	compared to:
    		- with Ram Rod

This rifle was mine and sold at an auction this past spring. The
auctioneer removed the Ram Rod (M1863) that was with it and said he
would replace it with the correct M1861 Ram Rod. It sold as Ram Rod
missing. I need to address the potential depreciation of value, no
matter how small in Small Claims Court. It probably isnt worth it for
me to pay several Gun Store Owners/Dealer for a written estimated guess
if the difference is very marginal. In either case, I need to know.

I have another issue with same auctioneer re: a scarce 1820 Militia Book
which also disapeared over the past two auctions (they're looking for
    it...) Since March???

Any replies here or via mail appreciated.

    -John

           DEAR JOHN,
BECAUSE OF THE COMMON PLACE OF THE RIFLE AND VOLUME THEY WERE
PRODUCED IN, THE SAME MUSKET W/RAM ROD WOULD ONLY GO FOR $600-
    650. AND IT ALSO WOULD DEPEND ON CONDITON AND IF THE MECHANICS
WORKS. IT COULD BE WORTH LOOKING IN TO.
