    John,

What was the brigade, division, corps, and army that the 1st Maine and
    1st Ma H.A. attached to?

    FYI

Here is what the Atwater List of those who died at Andersonville says:

    10986, Cromwell, S R (Corporal) 1 Artil, Co M, died Sept 14, scorbutus

Is he any relation to this other Cromwell from Maine?

    11211, Cromwell, W H, 19th Inf, Co D, died Oct 20, scorbutus

Scorbutus is another name given for Scurvy

    Jeff,

Sorry for the delay in answering. I'll look up the unit
info tonight. I remember the brigade consisted of two veteran infantry
regiments with our two heavy artillery regts. Btw, they weren't
artillery in anything but name as Grant had recently had them converted
to infantry and sent south from guarding Washington. They were pretty
green. Either Hancock or Bierney was commanding at the time they were
    captured.

Thanks for the Atwater info, the S.R. is the Sam I mentioned.
The W.H. Cromwell is an error. It's actually Oliver Cromwell of the
19th Maine Volunteer Infantry buried in that grave. I have his service
record from the National Archives. He'd sprained his ankle a week
before capture. Probably still wan't getting around too well.

Oliver and Samuel were 1st cousins and were captured on the same
day in mid June within two miles of each other. Both service records say
    death at Andersonville by disease.
                                             -John

    	RE: 2.70

Welcome aboard Paul, related to Lee huh? That makes ya'll
okay in my sphere of thinking! :^)
I was mildly surprised to see ya'll mention Fort Tejon
Historical Assoc. I know of a'couple fellows who belong to that
Association. One of them belongs to my reenacting outfit, the
5th Alabama Battalion, Company A, his name is Ed Thompson, he used
to belong to a North Carolina group when he was out there. He gets
a far away look in his eyes when he mentions any battles out at
"Squaw's Leap"...He moved out here to work at Hudson, Mass. for DEC,
but since has been layed off.
The other fella is Major J. Dale Himebangh of the Pacific
    	Brigade, Southern Ca. C.W. Assoc.
I'm glad ya'll jumped in, just another Reb to even up the
    	odds!! :^)
If ya'll want to continue the conversation, send me E-mail
rather than trashing up the conference. I would like to hear how
ya'll handle the reenacting out West..

    	Re. 2.77:
It's a shame, but, that's the way of DEC lately. It seems
that the Alabama Slammer has not got to long either.... Time is just
ticking, waiting for the sword to fall....
To bad ya'll didn't sign in earlier. I would have liked to discuss
the viewpoint of the war with ya'll from an African American viewpoint.

    	Good luck in the future....

Welcome, Ron. Gird your loins and suffer the romance movies, it'll be
    worth it.

Ron, my wife enjoyed GETTYSBURG and all it cost me was a lunch at
    TGI Friday's. :-)

Beside she's never insisted on a romance movie since I convinced her
to see a very special love story

There was one weekend that I recall that it was shown at the Warner in
downtown DC. I don't do downtown DC after dark. We've been checking
the Post's Weekender Section and it hasn't hit our 'burbs yet.
