2055.0. "ase_strategy()" by NNTPD::"moonsucho@is.digital.co.kr" (moon-su cho) Tue May 13 1997 14:08

Hi,
We have a kern.log which has a following messages;
      "ase_strategy():No mapping for dev 3700001"
      "ase_strategy():No mapping for dev 3700002"
      "ase_strategy():No mapping for dev 3700001"
And we have a wierd problem, that is to say, If we execute 'ps' or 'ls'
command for /dev directory, then those commands are hunged.
We examined files in /dev. If we executed 'ls' command to a specific file, i.e
/dev/ase_002 which has nfs service, this command is hunged except other
devices.
Is there any idea for above situation ?
I wonder the concept for 'ase_strategy()', pls let me know that meaning .
Thanks,

 /dev/ase_002 is used to nfs service for TruCluster environment.
And /dev/ase_002 is configured by RAID 0 which is consisted of rz29b 6disks,
we partitioned this to 2.
One(12GB) is used for ase_002, device of nfs service, the other is used for
ase_003, device of nfs service also.

    Maybe I'm cracking up, but shouldn't you have the ASE services on
    something like /dev/rz10c (or /dev/vol/... etc if it is LSM)?

    Hi,

    Yes, the service is defined with a "standard" device(s), but when it is
    used by ASE, it is changed to /dev/ase_xxx for device numbering
    reasons that I don't remember very well.
