2039.0. "simport patch and ASE" by NNTPD::"hancock@alf.dec.com" (Steve Hancock) Wed Apr 30 1997 19:27

I have a large customer that has a large 3 node configuration:

3 - 8400's
UNIX 3.2d-1
ASE 1.3
Multiple shared SCSI busses with HSZ40's

The customer will be installing the new simport patch on all three
systems, but would like to do the system reboots to install the new
kernels in an orderly fashion such that he can move the services around
and have minimal impact to his users. Is this possible to do safely, or
does he have to reboot all the machines at the same time and endure the
extended down time?

No, the new KZPSA driver patch does NOT require a total
environment shutdown.

Yes, you can orderly install the patch and reboot each
system as is convenient (moving the services around so
as to maintain availability of services).
