Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a complete listing of all
error/warning/informational messages output by TRUcluster/ASE. At the
moment I'm reduced to sitting in with a customer trying to force
various failures in order to examine the syslog data.

Brendan,
The appendix B1 B2 B3 and B4 of the ASE admin guide for version 1.3 is
giving a certain number of messages. I do not have the Admin guide of
version 1.4 to verify the appendix numbers.
This is most likely not an exhaustive list, but is a good start.
Otherwyse, you should search this notefile for the excellent ASE
whitepaper made by Douglas Frank.... It is full of explanations and
contains a list of undocumented messages.
