    Hi,I have a customer who didn't buy memory channel but wish to intall

    decsafe on Digital Unix 4.0B.

    If he install the production server 1.4,he would be asked to enter the

    ip address of memory channle.

    Is there any software availabel just like decsafe on unix 3.x which

    can run on digital unix 4.0?

    Regards!

1918.1Install TruClusters Available Server SoftwareNETRIX::"myrdal@zk3.dec.com"Gregory P. MyrdalWed Mar 05 1997 17:5214
DECsafe ASE had a product name change when we started installing onto
DEC UNIX V4.* systems. Its replacement is now called TruClusters
Available Server Software. Your customer can use the same LMF PAK
as he did for DECsafe ASE (ie. ASE-OA) in DEC UNIX V3.* machines.

Since your customer does not want MEMORY CHANNEL he does not want to
install TruClusters Production Server Software.

1918.2The license controls the installation scriptSMURF::RODGERSNothing is written.Thu Mar 06 1997 14:3042
When the customer registers the ASE-OA license (PAK), the installation script
does not ask for a MEMORY CHANNEL IP address. Instead, it asks for an IP
address on the member network:

   # setld -l /mnt/TCR140/kit

   *** Enter subset selections ***

   The following subsets are mandatory and will be installed automatically
   unless you choose to exit without installing any subsets:

         * TruCluster Available Server Software
         * TruCluster Common Components
         * TruCluster Configuration Software
   .
   .
   .
   Configuring "TruCluster Common Components " (TCRCOMMON140)

   Configuring "TruCluster Available Server Software" (TCRASE140)
   .
   .
   .

   Enter the IP name for the member network interface [greg2]: greg3

   Now you must enter an IP address corresponding to greg3.

   Enter the IP address for greg3 ([Return] to restart): 16.140.64.122

   You chose "greg3," IP 16.140.64.122 using interface tu0
   Is this correct? [y]: y
   .
   .
   .

As Greg pointed out, the product name is TruCluster Available Server Software
and the subset names begin with TCR, but the ASE-OA license ensures you see only
the subsets that are necessary to run Available Server and that the prompts
during installation pertain to Available Server, as well.
