2426.0. "Win95 client access problem..." by BIGBRD::ADEY (Is there a 'Life for Dummies'?) Tue Jan 28 1997 17:58

    I'm having a problem accessing a remote server from a Win95 client.
The Implementation Manager, the 'obbmsho -n bigbrd' command, and my
client are saying I'm not authorized to access the server. I beleive
proxies are correctly set up on the remote server:

My Win95 user name is 'adey', and my computer name is 'redvin'.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Try adding a proxy for the long name of the redvin.mlo.dec.com.
The client side does a gethostbyname and passes that to the
    server.

Thanks, that fixed my problem. Is this documented anywhere? I couldn't
find it! I spent two days trying to figure out why my client wasn't
working under Win95 (while it was working under NT 4.0).

In 2.7, we added some functionality to log the failures better in
the agent log. I will check to see where it is documented and
    if not, enter a ptr.
