1375.0. "OBB2.5B and Netware 4.11" by GVA05::GUY () Wed Feb 19 1997 07:30

A customer has installed Netware 4.11 on Windows 3.11.
Since OBJECTBROKER 2.5B is not working, they get the message
OBB_MSGFAIL

It seems that OBB doesn't find the WINDOWS directory.
The customer is asking how OBB finds the windows directory.

Thanks for help

Actually they move from Netware 3.11 to Netware 4.11
They need to know which kind of functions OBB uses to find Windows directory.

I am not sure if the V4.11 is supported by ObjectBroker V2.5b.

Subj: ObjectBroker for Microsoft Windows 2.5 spd (2.5B)

o One of the following communications protocol interfaces:

            - PATHWORKS V5.0A/V5.1 for DOS and Windows (if using DECnet
               or TCP/IP)

            - PATHWORKS for DOS/TCP V2.0

            - Novell LAN Workplace for DOS V4.0 (if using Novell's TCP
              /IP)

This is a big issue for our customer, they have started to deploy
Netware 4.11 on a lot of PC's currently running Windows 3.11.

They will in a second step migrate their PC to WINDOWS NT.

They claim they had to install NETWARE 4.11 in order to be able to have
NT Clients.

This is really a big customer for DIGITAL, what can we do to help
them.

Thanks for help

Please set the OBB_TRACE_FLAGS environment variable before getting
    into windows

    	SET OBB_TRACE_FLAGS=AF
        SET OBB_TRACE=obb.log

Then run the application and get the log. Then post the log here.

How do we set this environment variable under WINDOWS 3.11, I thought
we needed the Context Editor to enable OBB tracing.

You can either use the context editor and set the OBB_TRACE_FLAGS
and OBB_TRACE properties in the default table or you can
set them at the dos level before you start windows.

Customer didn't had chance to enable OBB tracing, but they found a workaround
to the problem by moving the settings done in OBB.INI file to a global
INI file

I may not be reading this right, but it sounds like they want to use
Novell TCP on ObjectBroker NT systems. This is not supported for any
version of ObjectBroker. ONLY Windows 3.1 systems support Novell TCP.
