340.0. "Wildcard Football" by GOLF::ZELENT () Mon Nov 04 1991 10:46

    		I just opened a box of wild card football this
    weekend and I thought I would fill you in on the results.

    		First the good news, the cards are good looking
    with UV coating on both sides, and as advertised you get 5
    wild cards per box (at least I did).

                Now for the bad news, you get 540 cards and its
    a 160 card set. You would think you could get at least 2 full
    sets out of it. WROOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! I came up
    at least 50 cards short of any complete sets. Some packs had 3
    of the same card in it and some had up to 3 sets of doubles in
    them. I ended up with over 15 of a lot of cards. So if you want
    to make sets I suggest you get at least 1 or 2 other friends who
    are willing to buy boxes and trade with each other or else plan
    on buying at least 2 boxes yourself.

340.8Collegiate Football information?NAC::G_WAUGAMANMon Dec 16 1991 13:0113

    I have some questions about the Collegiate Football set I've seen
    mentioned in here. How many cards are in the set? Is the set 1991
    players only? Are the cards generally available at card shops?
    How much do they go for?

    On a more general note, have there been any other fairly
    well-distributed college football sets over the years, or is this a
    first? College football has always held my interest more than
    professional...

    Pro football version of wildcard is out, on friday in andover
    "the boys from queens" were asking $45/box. I believe factory
    cost is around $28/box. I picked one for $43, it is also 160
    card set like the collegiate version, nicer though I think because
    at least you recognize most of the names. A big number stripe
    in this set might actually be worth something, still just a big
    gimmick.

    One dealer told me today that the factory still has them, meaning
    they ain't even sold out yet, so you investor types might want to
    steer clear. For football card collectors though you might want
    to check them out, I think they're pretty nice, although the
    distribution is horrendous. Many duplicate packs with in a single
    box, I have many to trade if anyone else opens some, perhaps between
    a few of us we can complete a couple sets.

340.11Anybody get prize card??DNEAST::WOODMAN_MIKEFri Apr 03 1992 23:186
    I need some help, I got 1 card that has the WildCard logo on it, and
    the back says mail in after January 1992, for a wildcard prize #1,
    anybody get one of these, and did you mail it in, and get anything
    back?? I want to make sure I don't have to pay a shipping charge on my
    prize like you do to exchange the stripe cards.

    Has anyone recieved anything yet from this Wild Card Co.? ?
    Back in January I mailed out some wild/cards,and I haven't heard
    anything yet,Im starting to wonder if this place is legit. I have
    an Al Toon Card with a \100\ stripe,and a few other collegiate cards
    with 20 and 50,I don't know what to do,everytime I call I never seem to
    get anyone,only a recording.

    	Jeff,
    		It was the one that you send in. On the card it says
    something like ... return this card for ... Not really interested
    in trading though. This just completes the set.

    What I was asking is which suprise card was it, I thought there
    were several, as #1, #2, etc. I'll check my set tonight to see
    how many there are, for instance there are 5 in the basketball.
