What kind of cards are these anyway? Baseball?
    					 Football?
    			                 Hockey?
                                         The Little Mermaid?
                                         Liz Taylor's Hubbys?

    C'mon, Give us a hint.

.1> I liked these cards, better than MooTown Snackers anyway and those
.1> Jumbo Sunflower seed cards John D. never sends me from the West Coast.
.1> Those biscuits are bad. The dog wouldn't touch 'em either.

Hey, I sent you a whole set of those Sunflower cards last year, and I
haven't finished this year's set yet for my self. While we're on this
"never" subject, I never did see any MooTown Snackers anything while I
was there, and believe me I looked everywhere. Half the time I had
clerks give me real odd looks when I asked them where they kept the
stuff. A couple of them even laughed out loud. If you ask me, I think
it was a plot to make me look foolish in public, and I really don't
    need the help 8^).

You probably chuckled yourself to sleep that night, didn't you. Sure, I
can see it know, tell the rube some story, and give the product some
off-the-wall stupid name, say, MooTown Snackers, and then send him off
to find it. Sorta like a Snipe hunt, huh?

You owe me some proofs-of-purchase, and then we'll talk sunflower
    seeds.

    8^)

OOOOOH! What an idea for a great practical joke. I'm gonna haft to
spread it around that Trojans has a limited time enclosed card offer or
if I was really a stinker I could make it something like panty shields
or summer's eve disposable douche. I'd like to get dealers believing it
and see them jockying for position in the feminine hygene isle in the
    supermarket.

You know, it was really pretty funny. The Saint showed me the cards,
and even gave me one as a sample. But when I canvassed grocery stores
and convenience shops, many of the clerks looked at me like I was an
escaped patient. I looked for a week, and then went home.

Too bad, I really liked them!

What do you guys do, feed your kids according to what sports cards
are available in the packages of food?

This has to be the funniest note I have read in along time, especially
.1 and .10 . Those poor kids, they start with all that cereal, then
they go to sunflower seeds, and end up with mootowners and douches what
    ever they are?

What we have to go through to make up a set, hey?
326.15How about them biscuits??TOLKIN::CHOYTue Oct 15 1991 19:0313
Those Mootowners are a lot easier to deal with than Jimmy Dean.
Mootowners are mozarella string cheese snacks - like Polly-O or
some other brands. Yes, I bought a couple of packs. You get about
6 cheese sticks AND one card for $1.59. I still have a bunch of the
sticks left. They gotta be bad by now but they weren't that bad to
start with. As for the cards, they were the usual cards by those nasty
airbrush boys, Michael Schecter Associates (MSA). Their cards (Jimmy
Dean, Mootown, Post, Wonder Bread, to name a few) are recognizable
except for this year's Pepsi/Red Sox cards. They were able to copy
the style from the Score Pepsi/Red Sox cards from last year. Anyway,
I will have to send for the Mootown set one of these days.

Hey, maybe you can put the Mootown cheese on the Jimmy Deans...

This note seemed to end up as a catch-all for mail-in offers, so here's
    another.

I just polished off a Snickers bar, and guess what? they're offering a
"free" set of 6 "Olympic Action Pins". No other description, except
"high qualiy enameled Snickers brand Olympic games action pins.

To obtain your "free set" you have several choices of UPC symbols to
    send in. Among them are:

6 14oz bags of Snickers miniatures

    9 9oz bags of same

2 six packs of Snickers ice cream bars

    25 king size Snickers bars

    45 full size Snickers bars

Plus, of course, $1.55 for S&H. Or, you can save yourself a Snickers
o.d. and just send $11.50 to:

    Free Snickers Brand

Are they similar in design (fold-over) to last years sets? Is there a
mail-in way to get them? Could you describe it? Hey, you brought it
    up! 8^)

I have UPC symbols that I sent in last year...They sent them back to me
with a "sorry, demand exceeded supply" letter. I'm hoping that I can
mail away for a set this year, as we can't get MooTown Snackers here on

John, you've got MooTown snacker cards mixed up with the Jimmy Dean
cards. Jimmy Dean had the uncut sheets last year. MooTown had the
sets with cards that weren't folded over like the ones in the pack-
    ages you bought.

    John,

O.K., let's see. The MooTown Snackers you showed me were two part, a
player card attached (via perforation) to a mail-in card. Right?

I've got 3 Jimmy Dean Sheets (the dog loved the sausage), but didn't
get the MooTown Snacker UPC's in in time (but I appreciated your
help!). Anyhow, they sent the UPC's back to me, and I saved them in
case they offered something similar this year.

    So, do they?

I haven't been grocery shopping yet to pick some up. While
scanning the coupon inserts in Sunday's paper, I came across a
coupon ad for Mootown that had the cards pictured in it stating
that they were now in each package. They look pretty much the
same as last year except the red border is now blue.

I had my POP returned last year too. Unfortunately, I don't think
I kept them. I did get a coupon for a free package of them that I
haven't used yet...

FWIW, I've found a couple of interesting thing while scanning the
coupon inserts. Last winter, Snickers was giving away a set of
Olympic hero cards for $6.95 and 3 Proof of purchase, nice cards. The other
set that was just mentioned a few days ago in here was advertised in
there also, along with the form. I also picked up a REALLY nice
mug from someone w/POP for a couple bucks. It's the shape of a football
helmet and you could choose from any NFL team. This is a NICE mug
and it must hold the equivalent of a Dunkin Donuts Big One in
there...

It pays to check out the coupons. Actually the wife does it for
me. I think it was some coffee company that had the NFL mugs. I
got a Chiefs one. She mentioned Sunday MooTown Snackers were
back again. Probably the best thing she ever found was back in
1984 when you could get an uncut sheet of Topps Nestle's cards
for 5 Nestle wrappers. The sheet I got has about 15 current and
possible Hall of Famers on it (Schmidt, Jackson, Ryan, Carlton,
    Morgan etc.).

    Denny,

If you've ever heard the term "regional sets", this type of stuff is
what's being refered to. Alot of companies insert cards in their
products, some on a regional and some on a national basis. California
Jumbo Sunflower Seeds are regional here (and *very* rare and
collectible 8^)), as are Mother's Cookies. Likewise, you guys can get
Nissan Bread and MooTown out there. Post and Kellog's are national, and
    we can *all* get them.

    John D.

326.47Yet another food issue...RAYBOK::DAMIANOBad example to kids everywhereTue May 12 1992 20:1417
Mr. Turkey, a sandwich meat co., has included a set with their product.
    The good news is you get to see the card before you buy the package;
The bad news is the card is part of the product packaging and has to be
trimmed down to card size. Also, you only get one card per package.

Inside there is a mail-in offer that involves 5 UPC's and a check for
$5.95, in return for wich you get an uncut sheet of the set (26 cards).

The cards themselves are fairly goofy looking, and there are no logo's
showing. Because of this there will probably be a low demand, and the price
of the set will skyrocket in later years as jaded collectors look for
    something new and different.
