635.1Clarification, please!!USCTR1::PAVLOCKTue Mar 22 1994 14:3816

    To fellow noters:

Could someone, more wise than myself, describe this product, relative
to other UD offerings. I've been asked, Why SE versus SP? What's the
difference, or is there a difference?

Any clarification will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, how do people feel this price is relative to what you've seen out
there for prices? I know it's expensive, but all cards are getting too
    expensive.

    Regards,
    Denny

I haven't seen an order form for this, but here's what I've heard
    from those who have:

SE stands for Special Edition, I think it maybe more like the
UD minor league than the three previous SP (in design). I've
also heard that UD's regular baseball issue will be in the same
    style.

There is supposed to be several subsets (no suprise), with an
annoying regional thing, different inserts for West boxes vs.
East boxes. East will have Shaq, Mourning, A. Hardaway, etc. from
teams in the east, west will have Webber and others from teams
out west. This sucks for subset builders.

The direct cost by the case breaks down into $43 and change, so
$50 is a pretty good price, I'm also paying $50 on a pre buy.
A few weeks ago, the pre sell price seemed to be rocketing up
to $60-$80/box, but then has apparently dropped back. Some said
because it's going into retail also, I'm not sure what's going
on, i think we'll have to wait until it comes out to see what
will happen to the box price, but $50 seems like a fairly safe
bet (at least I hope so!).

SCD apparently had an article which said the overall production
was approx. 11,000 cases overall between hobby, retail and maybe
jumbos (not sure about jumbos). A dealer was relating that their
UD rep stated this was comparable to SP baseball production, but
I've heard others dispute this (they think production of SP baseball
was much less than the production of SE basketball will be).

If it looks like either the SP baseball/football/hockey or the
current minor league, either way it should be a nice product.

Subject: UD SE BOXES INFORMATION PRE-SELLING
Date: 11 Apr 1994 07:09:15 GMT
Organization: University of Florida - CIRCA

Well everyone, heres the info you've been waiting for! Yes, these will be
HOBBY boxes and contain the 15 "conference all-star" cards subset. These
boxes contain 36 packs with 12 cards to a pack. The following is the break-
down of the subsets and inserts.

A 27 card TEAM HEADLINES subset.
A 18 card NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS suset.
A 15 card BEHIND THE GLASS subset.
A 15 card CONFERENCE ALL-STAR subset. (mentioned above)
A USA BASKETBALL trade card.
An ELECTRIC COURT card in each pack. (There is one of every card. Kind of
like the 1st day production cards.)
An ELECTRIC GOLD card in every box. (Same as above, one of every card.)

The only information I've been unable to receive is whether-or-not these
are East or West boxes. I do believe they will be East though because I
live in Florida. I will try to find out for sure! Now the terms.

I am pre-selling these boxes for $60 a box, (DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING!!).
I request half payment now to reserve the boxes and the balance to be paid
when I receive them. When the balance is paid I will send them out. I have
received alot of questions and there has been alot of interest shown so I
must make this a first-come, first-served offer. Those of you who have
already emailed me on this subject and shown interest will have priority.
Thanks for the time everyone. Email me at TG4444TG@ufcc.ufl.edu with any
questions/orders, ETC.

Thanks again,
