463.0. "1992 Leaf Studio" by QETOO::HAYES () Wed Aug 05 1992 23:33

    I just saw the Leaf Studio Preview Cards. The border is light
    brown. The studio logo is light blue in the left hand corner.
    There is a color photo of the player (poses are similar to
    last years) behind the player is a black and white action shot
    of the player. The backs are also bordered in light brown. The team
    logo is in a light blue field centered at the top of the card.
    The info is a on the personal side of the player, career highlites,
    Loves to face, Hates to face and an Up Close section.
    The cards have a glossy finish. IMHO they are a very nice
    looking card.

    There is an 8 card inset set (Surprise!) called Heritage Cards
    numbered BC1-8. They have gold leaf (another surprise!).
    The players 1-8 are Sandberg, Fisk, Boggs, Canseco, Mattingly,
    Strawberry, Ripken and W. Clark. No info on the distribution.

    Some of the Loves to Face/Hates to Face:

    Thomas (Mussina 8 for 11 2 hr/Ryan 0-12 11 SO)
    Justice (Belcher 4 for 11 .364/Rijo 1 for 16 .063)
    W. Clark (R. Martinez 13 for 32 .406/Charlton 0 for 14)
    Dibble (Galarraga 0 for 7 7 SO/Lind 6 for 7 .857)
    Ripken Jr. (Wells 8 for 19 3 HR/Juan Guzman 0 for 8)

    Interesting.

    I believe that it was still 48 packs to a box but I think they
    increased the number of cards per pack (don't quote me on this
    I didn't read the info that close). The cards are supposed to
    retail for $1.09 (yea right) but I bet they'll start at $1.50+.

    I need a second job........

463.1A Little More InfoQETOO::HAYESWed Aug 05 1992 23:396
    A little more on the Studio's. 264 cards set (like last year).
    Each team has it's players numbered consecutively (like Fleer).
    If anyone is interested in a particular team let me know and I'll
    send you a list of the players.

    I hope their distribution is better than last year. One box I opened
    and I only got half the $%#^&% set. They never did answer my letter.
    I wasn't the only one this happened to either.

463.5Distribution ReportQETOO::HAYESThu Sep 24 1992 12:1611
    Well the Saint and I opened 3 boxes last night. Between us (1.5 boxes
    each) we might have gotten 1 complete set. I was missing 6 cards
    for my first set and 32 cards for the second. So out of 864 cards
    I didn't complete 1 264 card set (48 packs per box, 12 cards per pack).

    The Heritage cards that were supposed to be 1 per every 6 packs were
    more like 1 every 9. We got 5, 5 and 6 out of the three boxes.

    Overall quality was good. I like the color scheme and the layout.

    Walt, I've seen them go from 3$ to 5$ for all of the players. They
    seem pretty easy to get.

    Sounds like Leaf came out with jumbo packs. I also heard that there
    will be an additional 12 Donruss Rookie Phenoms in jumbo packs. I
    hate when they do this because I have no need for any more Leaf
    Studio cards or Donruss Rookies.
