Since there's some interest in these, I'll create a separate topic for
the McDonald's Topps Baseball best cards.

Saw these in a show at Chelmsford Thursday for $3/pck of 5. I passed
and went to visit my girlfriend and my mother this weekend. Finished
the set except for Hundley paying avg. 50 cents a card, $1/card for
    guys like Bagwell, Griffey, Henderson...

430.3Are these hot cakes or Mc nothinsELMAGO::JVERGOThu May 28 1992 03:069

Apparently these were distributed in only a few states? Are these gold
embosed cards? what are the current prices and are these in high
    demand?
Talked to guy I ordered some Jimmy Dean sets and Post sets from, he
said the Mc d's stuff was hot ($40). I said no thanks.

430.4ROYALT::ASHEYou'll dance to anything...Thu May 28 1992 14:1414
There was an article about them in the last Topps magazine. Only about
8 markets I guess. They are black and are gold embossed with the
    players name and a McLogo.

I've seen the 5 card packs at shows in the Boston area for around
$3.00/pack. Cards like Bagwell, Thomas, Griffey in the $3-5/card
range. You've got just about anyone you would want in the set
(Thomas, Ripken, Canseco, Clemens, Ryan, Henderson...) plus prospects
like Bell, Klesko, Van Poppel, I. Rodriguez, Thome... who knows?
I'm trying to finish off a second set and see what happens....
I'd bet you can get a set at a show for around $30...

I picked up some packs when i went to Pa. to see mom for mothers day.
They are pretty nice looking. I didn,t think there would be much
intrest in them, but my brother did. I haven't seen any at a show for
under $35.00 but who's to say. One dealer i talked to at a show said
that collectors are just now starting to see how nice they are and
demand is picking up. I stopped in a few card shops when i was in Pa.
they were selling singles at that time a lot cheeper than i've seen
    them up here in NH.

Also McDonalds did not require a food purchase to obtain the cards.
My brother was buying some one day and a guy brought 200 packs of the
cards. In Pa. they were selling for $1.99 per pack of 5. And you could
get 1 pack for $1.29 with every value meal deal you brought.

These are nice cards. I picked up a Roger Clemens. Too bad Topps didn't
make their regular design this way.

Has someone got an extra Nolan Ryan that they'll let go for .75 or so?
[Charge me a buck if you have to...]

Even better if you're in Nashua, so we don't have to use mail to transact
the business.

Thanks,

Karl B.

I sent away for this set and it cost $29.95 + $3.00 for S/H,
total $32.95,I like the set and I think that it was a good deal.
I know other people who paid from $40.00 to $50.00 for the set.
I got the cards within a week, now thats what I call fast service.

    John,

Could you say a little more about the set? What is it, Who's in it?

It's another one of those sets loaded with the usual superstars like
Thomas, Clemens etc. Nice looking cards, but this is another set I'd
rather wait on to see if prices drop. Look at Domino's Football Set.
There seem to be a lot of dealers that have the set.
