I opened some packs yesterday. I like the cards, they are a light
blue version of OPC Premiere Baseball. I also like the backs.
The Diamond Kings are spectacular. Hudmar in marlboro got some
in yesterday. I'm not sure how easy it will be to make a set,
I had a few repeat packs.
    Nice card

    Distribution of Diamond Kings

Hard to tell. There are definately fewer than last few years.
However, these things always show up in lots of 10 Million at
Big Bobs or someplace like that.

Diamond King distribution is 3-4 per box.... (that's what I heard from
somebody that has opened two boxes....)

    Here's a checklist

DK1 Paul Molitor DK2 Will Clark	DK3 Joe Carter
DK4 Julio Franco DK5 Cal Ripken	DK6 David Justice
DK7 George Bell DK8 Frank Thomas DK9 Wade Boggs
DK10 Scott Sanderson DK11 Jeff Bagwell	DK12 John Kruk
DK13 Felix Jose DK14 Harold Baines	DK15 Dwight Gooden
DK16 Brian McRae DK17 Jay Bell	DK18 Brett Butler
DK19 Hal Morris DK20 Mark Langston	DK21 Scott Erickson

						     (Dick Perez Artist)

I agree with Mike, these cards are beautiful, but at $1.50/pack, I'll wait
acouple monthes.. 8^) If you do see these Diamond King cards at any shows
for under $1.50, pick them up. These cards remind me of the 1991 Leaf Gold
    Cards, very sharp!

I got a look at these cards yesterday. They're nice, but at $1.50 a
    pack, I'll pass.

Did anyone notice that on the back, along with the usual stats stuff,
they've included the players *contract* status up in the right corner?
    I thought it was funny.

Cards per pack is subject to the usual donruss quality control
problems. I've bought 4 packs and 1 had 13 cards, another had
    16. The shop owner said that there was a pack in the same
box that had 1 card and a puzzle piece.

Packs seems to be settling for $1 a piece, any more is a rip. I like
the improved stock, but I didn't think the DK were all that impressive.
I guess in comparison to previous years they are a huge improvement,
but I didn't think they were as nice as the gold leafs.

Nice cards too. A shame they went to the "randomly inserted format".

Of course, the others were randomly inserted too, but they were part
of the main set, so you know you could find them.

Thanks to Miguel re: Notes 360.19. I just happened to see his note
earlier this week and happened to be at BJ's in Westboro, Mass. I was
thinking about starting the 1992 Donruss set for my son. I saw the
    packs at Hudmar's (Marlboro, Mass.) for $1.25 or $1.50 a pack. $.70
per pack ($25.18 including tax for the box) is much better. I guess
that's someone's rule in this note conference, never more than $.75 per
    pack, right?

By the way, they still have at least 1 1/2 cases as of noon today.

 Everyone,

I'll be going to a show this weekend and will be trying to trade for
DK Thomas, Bagwell, and Justice. What should I expect to see as far
as prices go for these and any other DK's.

    Thanks,
    Jim
360.26some prices (and unsolited advice...)DDIF::TANCILLlong may you runTue Dec 24 1991 14:4320

Over the last two weekends I've seen DKs going for anywhere from $1
a piece for Joe Carter and Felix Jose to $15 (asking) for Thomas
and/or Bagwell. Two sunday's ago, a Bagwell out for sale for $5
was bought quickly by another dealer at the show who promptly layed
it on his table at $12. Don't remember seeing a Justice specifically.

As you probably know already, you're out to get one of the hot things
at this particular moment in time, this timing will most certainly
affect how much you will have to give up for the "big 3" you're after.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't pay or trade too much this weekend
because you can either do better in here or later down the road at
a show in '92. Remember for most things it's a buyer's market big
time out there right now, find a motivated dealer or consider waiting
until the next hot insert comes into the market in '92 baseball; at
that time DKs will be easier to come by.

Actually, I used to pick up Donruss religioously every year. Last
year was the first I didn't (and I still ended up getting a box of
Series I for xmas last year).

I liked their cards, hated their stock, but they were always
plentiful, and low in price. My kind of card.

The reason I passed last year was because of all the crap they
started pulling with Leaf, preview-Leaf, Studio, preview-Studio, etc.
    Got tired of it.

This years cards are nice. And since I was able to get a box at BJ
prices, I couldn't pass it up. And they seemed to have improved their
decollation. Or could this be one of the few times I did pretty good
with the decollation of a box? Ask most anyone -- I have the WORST
    luck with decollation.

I attended a show in Dallas this weekend. Seemed to be a lot of all
types of cards. 1992 Donruss was selling for anything from $1.00 a
pack to $1.50 a pack; $27.00 to $33.00 per box. One dealer was buying
any DK-checklists he could get his hands on! Are they scarce, rare, good
    investment(yeah right!) :-).

bought 5 boxes from a local distributor ($30). They came of the top
of a new case. Got an elite Carter, each box had 4 DK's. Also was
approached about a Gwynn elite, but the guy didn't really want to part
with it. I have a feeling these may be a little more limited than we
all might be thinking. Why do I say that ?

    1. The specials are popping up more frequently

    2. 1 per case is sounding more believeable

    3. @ 1 per case = 100k cases ( 90k elite, 5k Ripken, and 7.5k
    Henderson)
    4. 50k cases of each series = 1.35M of each card

    5. sounds like alot but, if we compare that to stadium club...

    6. Stadium Club:
Charter Member 160k (I sent in Oct 28 and am #153XXX)
Charter Member is 6x's more scarce? = 1M regular issue stadium club

The prices are falling on Series II, the show I went to this weekend

I opened my box of Series II yesterday. I got 4 Diamond Kings (all at
the same layer) and a complete set of "BC" cards.

Being new to this hobby, I like to know:

    	- Are the BC cards, "special cards" like the Diamond Kings?

    	- I did get the last checklist and it says there are 8 BC cards.
Will there be more? I guess that depends on whether Leaf comes
out with a Series III, right?

I like to team Logo's for Miami and Colorado!

Well, I just saw the "elite series" I believe, Ricky Henderson
in a store, and for only $250, it can be yours.... Nice looking
    	card, nice price too...

Factory sets have come out, dealer cost is $33.33/each to give
you an idea in case you go looking for one. Contains 4 92
Leaf preview cards, which are pretty nice, I'll go into more
detail in a new note for Leaf.

If anyone is considering purchasing a donruss factory, don't
pay more than $35, i know one dealer who got his direct and
I can pass one onto you for $35 (preview cards intact).

360.65What's in the factory set?CARTUN::PAVLOCKTue May 26 1992 12:386
Are there any other cards in the factory set other than the the normal
750+ regular cards, the 8 BC cards and the 4 Leaf preview cards?

The 8 BC Cards probably aren't in the factory sets. At least in the
past they weren't and usually they had a Grand Slammer subset in-
cluded instead. I haven't seen a factory set yet so I can't really
    say anyway.

Anyone know anything about the promo set (12) issued for '92 Donruss.
I just traded my Thomas team Pinnacle card for the set, but felt
    a little uneasy about it.

Opened a box of the 1992 Donruss Rookies. It's a 132 card set with the
same design as the regular 1992 Donruss with a green flavor. Distribu-
tion was lousy as usual for a Donruss product. Out of 432 cards in the
box, I couldn't make one set. I was missing 7 cards for one set and 27
cards for a second set. Some "rookie" stars I didn't notice were Eric
Karros, Kenny Lofton, Pat Listach, Dave Fleming ... I was missing one
of the checklists so I don't know if they were in the set, although
they didn't appear to be since the players appear in alphabetical or-
der and some didn't appear on the first checklist.

I got five of the "Rookie Phenom" cards including Fleming, Listach and
Lofton so maybe the major rookie stars appear only in these cards.
