The 91-92 Hoops cards hit a few southern nh card stores yesterday.
White boardered fronts and white background backs on what appears
to me to be much thicker/higher quality stock than last year's cards.

Current rumor: Production was cut in half from last year. Of course
since they printed a zillion last year this might not be saying a
    whole lot.

I picked up a box for $13.95 and I really like the cards. Nice sharp
color photos on the front with head shot photo on the back. The
overall look is very "crisp". Stats on the back have both college
and NBA records. There appears to be many subsets, here are a few
    I have seen so far:

NBA Yearbook, League Leaders, NBA All Star (weekend),
Inside Stuff (backs have off court info on players activities,
typically community related, 'Inside Stuff' is an NBA saturday
    	morning TV show apparently), Milestones.

Additonally there is some "commemerative"/"advice" cards, like
a Robinson "leave out Alcohol" card, a Will Smith stay in school.

I also came across a CC1 card commemerating '100 Years of Hoops',
featuring Professor Naismith and his ball and baskets. It has a
"silver" boarder around the picture of Naismith.

There are two commemorative cards ( that I know of ) for the 100
    years of Hoops.

One is part of the regular set: #301

    One is a "CC" card -- CC1.

Jeff mentioned earlier he got one (CC1) in his box, John and I each
got one in our boxes. I think these'll be pretty easy to find.

312.8Hoops nicer than Skybox and Fleer!DNEAST::WOODMAN_MIKEFri Oct 25 1991 23:208
Picked up a box of Hoops this weekend, for $11 at a card show.
Completed one set from the box, and got 3 of the CC cards. The cards
are nice, my only complaint is that they aren't all cut the same size.
When you stack them on end I found two different size cards. Hopefully
they don't produce all of them like this. Comparing them to Skybox and
Fleer, I'd have to say Hoops are the best out there this year, of
course Upper Deck is due out around Christmas, so I may change my mind
    then.

There is an additional Hoops basketball card available this year.

It's included when you purchase the new NBA videotape on Larry
Bird. It is only available by purcashing the video.

Did anyone else fine the Hornets team card pretty funny?

The card pictures all of the players and coaches with their
arms outstretched flying through outer space.

I got a kick out of it, the players look hilarious, and what would
hornets be doing in outer space anyway? I guess this might explain
why they picked Larry Johnson -- if he doesn't mind wearing a dress
for Converse, then he shouldn't have a problem being an alien hornet
    either...

Some of the other team cards are a little different as well, some are
pretty normal; give hoops credit for making normally dull team cards
    a bit different.

    RE: 11,

I got a box of rack packs this past weekend (as a gift, so I don't
know the price, place, etc ) . There were 12 racks, each divided into 3
"pockets", with a total of 47 cards per rack (15.666666 cards per
"pocket" !!??) The Slam Dunk Champions I think you're referring to,
depict all the past winners ,well I got 22 of them in my box. The only
"problem" is 10 were Jordan and 12 were Larry Nance !!! Time ot hit
    	the "Trade" note .

I had one dealer tell me (he "swore") that you get "on average, 4
complete slam dunk sets per rack box".

He had rak boxes for $19 and was selling the subsets for $6/each.

He proceeded to open a box, and build four subsets out of it, and
sold me two. Sure $12 seems high for two subsets, but it's less
than $19. And now I don't have to build another set! 8^)

Couple of questions related to the Dr. James Naismith cards....

    There are two cards;

    1. #301 with Naismith's picture sideways on the face of the card.

Have seen the card priced anywhere from 10 cents to $1.50 each.

    2. The other card with his picture printed the normal way on the face
is numbered "C1" ? or something like that. This card is normally
priced up here around Ottawa at around $20. to $30.

How was this second card ditributed that made it more difficult to
    obtain than the other?

What's this second card worth around N.E. ?

    thks,

The second card is numbered "CC1" and was/is distrubuted in the
wax packs. It's randomly inserted into packs, approx. one CC1
card per box, although some people can't seem to get one no matter
how many boxes they open. It could be that CC1 was in the early wax
boxes at about one per box, but not so in later boxes. I have seen the
card at shows here in southern nh/northern mass. for $10-$20.

It's not like I've ever seen anyone sell one... With any of these
insert type limited cards it's always anybody's guess as to what
the value is. The card isn't listed in Beckett, so your average
dealer prices it high, in case it actually sells the dealer wants
to feel like he got some decent money for it, otherwise he'll
hang on to it. I don't particularly understand this myself, I
thought as a dealer you're there to sell cards, however, if they
only have one of them they don't seem to mind hanging onto it
unless they find a sucker to cough up a good chunk of change.

Hi guy's, the card is listed in Beckett Jan 92 issue but,
    it's numbered ( NNO Naismith Special SP ) price 5.00 10.00
I finally got one and it's # is CC1 and the other card # 301 is
called the Centennial Card price .03 .10
So looks like Beckett made a mistake when it listed the card.

Hoops II are out, 260 more cards! for a total of 590. This is the
largest basketball set ever. The packs contain only series II cards
which is nice. They contain various subsets including draft picks
    (top ten) in their uniforms which is a big improvement over last year;
    USA basketball cards from 92 and years past; ART cards; playoff cards;
and "Supreme Court" cards which are various stars in yet another card.

middle and on the bottom it says NBA Hoops in gold letters a gold
boader and in the background 1992. On the back short preview on

Miguel, I've heard of them, my dealer said he had one, but couldn't

The All-Star MVP insert set (hi number rak packs) picks up where
