272.0. "Michael Jordan rookie..."pre-pro"?" by TINCUP::GALLAGHER () Fri May 17 1991 15:40

	Does anyone out there know what a Michael Jordan "pre-pro"
	card would be worth?
	This card is from the 1982-83 season, and Michael is wearing
	his US Olympic uniform. The card doesn't have any logo's
	on it to indicate what card manufacture made it. I believe
	it has "Olympic Gold" printed on the front.

	Any help would be appreciated!

    More bad news. That card was printed well after the 82-83 season
    (89-90). It's generally not considered a collectable; however if your
    a Jordan collector it's a nice item to have.  I wouldn't count on a
    high resale value if your looking for one.
    I got mine for .50

272.3Ken Griffey Jr. CardsDONVAN::PLOURDEWed May 22 1991 12:1713

    This brings up an interesting point... I recently saw approx 10
    different Ken Griffey Jr. cards at Chris' Comics in Salem. The cards
    were selling for .75 or 1.00 ea. and looked very nice. A few of the
    cards were full front pictures (no boarder) with his name and a couple
    had a purple(ish) border around them all of them had just stats on a
    white backing on back... I saw no company logo on these. Are these
    cards fakes? ( I know nothing about baseball card collecting). who
    makes these ? If they are fakes, who makes em' and how does a dealer
    go about selling them ?

Back to Mr. Jordan. Anyone think that this weeks Sports Illustrated
hologram of him is worth holding on to? It is an awesome cover.
Now if I could just get him to sign it.

I thought that was pretty slick, myself. I've never seen a hologram on the
cover of a mag. before. Is this indeed a first? I also noticed that it's
not a typical hologram. It's a hologram of a motion picture instead of just
a number of snap shots.

    National Geographic has had several holo's on their covers. One of
    them had the entire outer pages (front and back) as a holo.

    Holograms have been on the cover of comic books as well in the past.

    But I'd keep a copy of it as long as you keep it bagged and flat you
    should find someone in a few + years that will pay a decent price for
    it.

    Yeah, if dealers can peel them off and try to sell them at shows they
    must be worth megabucks, right?
