220.0. "1991 Fleer Baseball" by SBGPX2::BELISLE (Mike Belisle MRO4-1/H20 297.3324) Fri Dec 07 1990 14:36

Fleer seems to have out done themselves in '91.

o They will have 720 cards in 1991, up from 660 in 1990.
o The best part is the cards will be released in one series!
o The cards will be in yellow borders with the players team
and position on the bottom and name on top.
o A full color circular photo coupled with easy-to-read stats
	  are on the back.
o Two special subsets were created, the first are sports art
cards called (get this) 'Pro-Visions'. These cards are "Fantasy"
art renditions of 12 top players. 1. Jose Canseco, 2. Will
Clark, 3. Roger Clemens, 4. Eric Davis, 5. Dwight Gooden,
	  6. Mike Greenwell, 7. Bo Jackson, 8. Don Mattingly, 9. Mark
Magwire, 10. Kirby Puckett, 11. Ruben Sierra, 12. Darryl Straw
Berry. These cards will be randomly distributed in wax packs,
and one card will be found in every rack pack. Terry Smith is
 	  the artist of the subset.
o The other special subset is a 10 card All-Star set. These cards
will be in a horizontal format with two color photos on the
front and one on the back. These cards will be found in CELLO
pack only! All-Star are: 1. Ryne Sandberg, 2. Barry Larkins,
	  3. Matt Williams, 4. Cecil Fielder, 5. Barry Bonds, 6. Rickey
Henderson, 7. Ken Griffey Jr., 8. Jose Canseco, 9. Benito
	  Santiago, 10. Roger Clemens.

Fleer has taken a refreshing stance concerning error cards this
year. Fleer officials said: (barring a Billy Ripken-type error)
the company will not correct errors.

	John

BCN has an article on the 1991 series ( I'm sure you've read
it). They go on to say that the 'entire series will be in
yellow borders. Now this doesn't include the two special
subsets that I mentioned in .0 (They will be in black borders)

Where did you hear about the four different color? That would
	be wild!

    I opened 4 boxes,and still haven't put a full set togeather. Out
of four boxes I opened,I only got 1 Ken Griffey Jr.. If your
thinking of collecting all of the 12 special cards, you're not going
to do it by buying them over the counter for $.50 a pack. There are
4 to 5 of these special cards in every box,and I think that will be
about the fastest way to collect all 12. The only card I need now is
Ruben Sierra, and I have many dups of the others. B.J.'s (Salem,N.H.)
had them for $12.98 per box,and they went like hot cakes.

In the January Becketts they list the Pro-Visions. I
know of the 1-12 subset, but, they go on to list 4
other cards in the set. There numbered 1F thru 4F.
Does anyone know what these cards are? The set sells
for $3.80 (if you add up all the prices)
