216.0. "NFL/Coca-Cola BottleCaps" by DNEAST::JENNINGS_RIC () Mon Nov 19 1990 12:30

       Information Please..
    I have some Coke bottle caps from the early{?} sixties of NFL
    players. They're something I just tucked away and discovered
    lately..I have 10 so far and probably would be interested in
    selling them..I truly have no idea of their value.
     here's the list:

       NFL all stars ..Tommy Mason, Charley Taylor, Willie Davis,
    Myron Pottios, Maxie Baughan.
       Giants .. Dick James, Tom Costello, Roosevelt Brown, Ernie
    Koy , & Dick Pesonen.

    I'd appreciate any info,prices or offers
    thanks
    Rick Jennings

    I saw a guy selling some at the Shriners show. Common players, he was
    asking about $1.00. The HOF's and true stars, like Gifford, J. Brown,
    B. Starr get much more, like $10 to $25, depending on how bent the cap
    is, and if the coke has stained the plastic picture.

    Now, if you have any BB Coke caps with Super Stars, they seem to bring
    a little more. I saw a Mantle go for $30 a while ago.

    You might want to look at a non-card sports collectibles book at one of
    the book stores , or at a good card shop. They should have some
    prices in there to get you going.

    I remember them. We used to place them on a sheet with the coca-cola
    co. and turn them in. We would get a football after you filled
    about 10 huge sheets of varius players.

    I remember Y.A. Tittle was a tough cap to get back then. What do
    they fetch for a price for him? To think, I had tons of them caps.

    there were also some baseball Coca-Cola caps from around 1967 or 1968;
    I remember I had a mix of Pirates players (hometown) and some
    all-stars. I haven't seen any prices anywhere on them, but since I
    don't have them anymore, it doesn't really matter.

    I saw some down in buzards bay this summer 1.00 apiece.
    I asked my dealer and he said that was about the right price.
    They probably still have them.
    They had baseball and football, they were at some side shop down
    there.
