193.11ClarificationREFINE::ASHEWaiting 4u2 justify my video...Tue Dec 04 1990 16:4517
A couple of clarificaions on the previous note:

    1) The front looks like the Rison -Colts card (#134) with the Traded
Stripe. The real Traded strip card will be added to the Final Update
    set.

    2) The cost for the set is 50 points + $2(postage/handling), OR
    $3 + $2 (postage/handling) per set. So it's either 50 pts. + $2
    OR $5 total.

No mention of if the points had to be from this year or not.

I paid $1.50 for the stupid thing. The dealer looked shocked when I
told him I bought a box + and hadn't seen one of these....

According to the SPORTS CARDS TRADER magazine, there is a big

Has anyone else filled out and sent in that card which came in Jumbo
packs of UpperDeck Baseball for a free issue of some magazine? I sent
it in about 2 months ago after reading the card once and I'm kinda
fuzzy about what it was for. Anybody hear or recieve anything?

I sent in one of those $.10 cards from Proset Hockey last year and
since then I've recieved 2 or three catalogs and 2 sample cards sets.
One I recieved in Jan. '91 with 2 golf cards and 2 silver anniversary
football cards and last August I recieved a sampling of cards including
a hockey, racing, rock star, little mermaid, and Bill and Ted's bogus/
    excellent adventure cards.

Just last week I received another ProSet Gazzette. The cards included
a Tom Barrasso (hockey common), auto racing, music (Gibson? I think), Bill
and Ted something, and a special ProSet FB Emmit Smith card... The hockey
card was the same as in the 91-91 Series I set. As for the Emmit Smith the
card number was PS1 or something like that...and said Proset Commemorative?
in the front upper left corner. I don't know if this is the same card in
the regular set.

Did you guys send in a new card recently or is this still from last
    year or so?
I'm wondering if they purge thier mailing list or at least addresses
which have been on it a while. Do I need to send in another card?

This all came about (originally) because I wrote in for their (PS)
xlist for the '89 FB cards.

Then I wrote in for the free Sanders ROY card last year (and got
three of them 8^). I then wrote for the Sanders card from my
parent's address (and got three more! 8^).

Oh yeah, and I've ordered the FB final update both years, so ...

Really limited? Bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ...

I saw a dealer at a show with an entire display case full of 'em.

Must've been AT LEAST 50-100 of each card. Amazing how those dealers
have so many phones and addresses huh? Must be big money in cards.

The only time I got through was on a rotary-dial phone ... and it
auto-selected me to the option for "UD's Collecting Cards Book". 8^(

I just received my free Disney Checklist yesterday, it's one page
typed checklist, and it did not include the Holograms. It has,
however, 4 color pictures at the top of the page; one for the
wrapper, and one for each of the 3 different categories: favorite
stories, family portraits, and world tour. It looks very nice,
    	and it was free.

At a show last night I saw a dealer with the latest Classic promotional
cards for sale. These are the ones that I get from the address I
obtained in this notesfile. First the guy tells me that ONLY dealers
get these things......NOT! He had the one with the 4 #1 picks in each
sport (Lindros,Maryland,Johnson and Taylor) sellng for $40 and told me
he had sold the one with Lindros alone on it for $50! I saw other
freebies I have been getting, mostly from Classic from anywhere between
$15-$40. I should have asked him what he would be willing to pay for
these things.....I probably would have run home and brought all of mine
    to him.

How can they sell these if they say "for promotional purposes only" on
the back of them? Who's going to stop them....is probably the answer.

Has anyone else seen this stuff for sale anywhere? And who else is
still getting these freebies? I know in the latest mailing they did
make mention that they knew I hadn't purchased anything from them yet.
It says on the order sheets that you need some sort of dealer ID number
in order to get what they are trying to sell....which I obviously don't
    have.

If you want a real shock sometime, ask them what they're paying
for the promos. Better yet, offer them for sale.

Betcha find out how much these guys really think of them.
