176.1They may be Topps Giants- 1964?AKOV13::GASPARONIThu Sep 06 1990 15:048
    If those Yankee cards are the 1964 Giants, produced by Topps, I have
    seen the whole set going for around $90. The Mantle is the most
    expensive one of the bunch, going for about $18.00, the rest go for
    about $5.00 to $7.00 each. They have a little story on the back of the
    cards. If they are blank backs, they might be reproductions or
    postcards produced by some company as a give away at the ball park.

    Are you looking to sell the Mantle??
176.3More info.USMFG::BCORSINIFri Sep 07 1990 14:4411
  This set does not have a brand name on them. They are black and white
  and they have an excellent white border which can be autographed without
  defacing the card.

    This set was produced by and sponsered through the New york Yankees
    themselves and sold through Yankee Stadium. They ar UNIQUE.
    They are not for sale. Someday I might consider auctioning them.

    The 67 Yaz card is an Atlantic Richfield Series 8 x 10. Its in
    color with all stats on back. Mint condition and triple crown year.

176.5Don't see these around USMFG::BCORSINIFri Sep 07 1990 15:405
    With the players involved here the set is definitely worth
    more than that. Mint shape, original envelope with Yankee Insigna,
    and not around.

    P.S. Any Mantle, Marris cards are good, along with the rest here.
176.71964 Yankee Picture Pack Cards - Hardly any 5x7's ever USMFG::BCORSINIMon Sep 17 1990 13:228
 	Spoke with a dealer this week. He said even though black and
    white with no stats on back hardly any 5 x 7 picture pack 1964 Yankkes
    with original envelope ever survived.

    	Dealer said its great to see one mint condition one did. He
    said they are scarce.

176.12"Super Sets"ELMAGO::JVERGOThu Nov 08 1990 18:3910

    Does anyone know anything about "super sets", these seem to be early
    '70ish issues. I have some football (Unitas, Hayes, Kelly ect),
    but there is no date on them. I saw some baseball pictured in the
    scd this week(they were being auctioned) and they looked just like
    the football(smaller than regular cards, just a picture of the player,
    they have a kind of plastic coating, and all the corners are rounded).
     The cards I have are part of a set of 33.

    In 1970 and 1971 (could be other years, that's all I know of), Topps
    produced the "Super" cards. I believe the sets number in the sixties.
    The backs of the cards look just like the backs of their regular issue
    cards. They are on thick cardboard with rounded corners and at least
    twice the size of regular cards. I am about 6 cards short of the '71
    set and have about 25 from the '70 set. The expensive cards are the
    same as always, Rose, Bench, Aaron, Clemente etc etc etc.

    I didn't know they also did the football in "Super" sets.

    Pat,

    	I'm not so sure they are a super set now, mine are smaller than
    the regular cards and don't have any stats on the back.
    	Well, we have a big show here this weekend, maybe I'll get some
    more info there.

    Jim,

    In '69 and I think again in '70 Topps issued a ruffled edge card in
    their packs. they were all superstars and are known as Deckle cards.

    These cards are B&W photos of stars like Mays, B. Robbie, etc. Does
    this fit the cards you have?

176.171970 Topps Super Glossy setBBCARD::MCAULIFFEWed Nov 14 1990 20:2821
	I think what you have is a 1970 Topps Super Glossy FB set. This is a
	set of 33 full color glossy cards (card size is 2 1/4" x 3 1/4"). They
	feature a thick stock with rounded corners, with the backs containing
	only the player's name, his team, position and the card number. I think
	they were inserted into 1970 FB packs (first series maybe??)

	Big cards from the set:

		#2  Johnny Unitas
		#9  Bart Starr
		#15 Fran Tarkenton
		#20 Sonny Jurgensen
		#22 OJ Simpson (rookie card)
		#27 Len Dawson
		#28 Bob Griese
		#29 Joe Namath

	Hope this helps,
	Dan
176.18Thanks Dan, Unitas-How much?ELMAGO::JVERGOThu Nov 15 1990 14:169

    Dan,

    	Thanks, that's exactly what they look like. How collectible
    are they and what do you think they might be worth? I don't have
    the full set but I do have about 20 cards.

    	Thanks again, Jim

176.19A "non-standard" setBBCARD::MCAULIFFETue Nov 27 1990 16:3212
Jim,

	I don't have the latest and greatest copy of the Becketts Football
Price Guide (Book version). Maybe somebody out there does. The monthly
guide may come out with prices on this type of set (similar to the baseball
monthly guide which priced non-standard sets about once a year).

	If you have most of the major stars from the 20 or so you have, I
would take the time and try to complete the set. Let me know if you need
the complete check list...

Dan
176.20Any Value???DASXPS::TGORMLEYFri Dec 28 1990 14:0829
    Noticed that Atlantic-Richfield was mentioned, so I thought I'd put
    this here........

    I have a 1968 Baseball Guide that Atl.-Rich. gave out back then. It
    was put together by the Elias Sports Bureau and includes:

    Team Rosters for both the National and American League teams including
    the players 1967 stats;

    Review of the 1967 All Star game (including the box score)

    Review of the 1967 World Series (complete game by game box score plus
    total World Series stats)

    Team statistics for both leagues, plus top 25 or 30 in batting and
    pitching also;

    All time records for World Series, plus all time leaders in pitching
    and hitting categories.

    It's funny reading about some of the predictions they had back then.
    1968 was the first year for the A's in Oakland, and they listed some
    of the rookies they had coming up (Reggie Jackson, Joe Rudi, Rollie
    Fingers, Sal Bando).

    Well, my question is: Is this worth anything? (It's in Very Good
    condition).

176.21'70s football gameELMAGO::JVERGOMon Mar 04 1991 16:147

    I recently obtained what appears to be an old football game distributed
    by topps in the early '70s. It contains playing cards 1-52 and game
    sheets (5"x 8"). Both the sheets and the cards picture players.
    	Any info as to year published, value, or other would be
    appreciated.
    Thanks, Jim
