152.0. "Collecting Limits" by BSS::G_MCINTOSH (Vom Hochland German Shepherds) Wed Jun 27 1990 18:16

Do the rest of you set limits on the domain of cards that you want to
collect? I'm 21 cards away from my goal of collecting one of ALL the
cards made that fit my criteria, but I collect only:

    	- San Diego Chargers football
    	- Nationally distributed (no regional cards)
    	- Non-promotional cards (no Kellogg's, McDonalds's, 7-11...)
     	- Sold in the US (not Topps/UK cards)

and I'm spending alot of time keeping this small domain up to date.
I collect only 1 team in 1 sport.

Do the rest of you set limits like these on what you collect? And if
the limits are very broad, meaning including all teams in one sport,
or all sports......Well, I just don't see how you do it. I'm sort of
in awe. What limits do you set?

152.1Welcome to Outer UnlimitedDECXPS::WALWORTHWed Jun 27 1990 18:5211
I've only been collecting for almost four years now and I don't
set any limits on what I collect mostly baseball cards. If I see
something that I like I buy it. Whether it is update sets or cards
put out for the first time i.e. (Score and Pro-set football,
Double-headers,Hoops,Upperdeck) whatever it is I have to complete
the set. Which takes time but keeps me in the hobby and is very
expensive. To date the only sets I have to complete are 84,86,and
87 Topps BB. Sometimes I wonder though if it is all worth it.

So it seems for some of you that the object is not to collect one of
every card made for a certain domain, but just whatever appears
appealing. Ok...I'm with 'ya! I get it!

I collect the cards I want to have. Simple as that. I don't have all
the cards I want to have because I can't afford them. I buy a few at a
time. This hobby will last a life thime that way and I won't have
    45,000,000 cards I don't want.
