128.0. "Contest" by MPO::ST_ONGE () Fri Mar 30 1990 16:11

	Figured I'd start a contest in here to see who can pick the
	division, league and World Series winners. First prize will
	be a 1988 Topps Factory set. Simply enter a note here prior
	to opening day listing each divisional winner, the league
	winner, the World Series winner. Tie breakers will be which
	team will win the All-Star game and then how many games
	will the Seattle Mariners win. For example:

	AL East - Milwaukee Brewers
	AL West - Kansas City Royals
	NL East - New York Mets
	NL West - San Diego Padres

	AL Champs - Kansas City Royals
	NL Champs - San Diego Padres

	World Champs - Kansas City Royals

	All-Star Game - AL
	Seattle Mariners will win 83 games

	You'd get 1 point for each division winner, 2 points for each
	league winner and 3 points for the WS champs.

	Good luck !

128.30Can I play this game?AKOV13::GASPARONITue Aug 28 1990 19:2913
    I want to guess as to what teams I think will make the playoffs. I
    know I'm a little late in getting into this contest, but I need a
    little edge and decided to put my entry in late, August 28.

    A.L. East ----- Boston Red Sox

    A.L. West ----- Oakland A's

    N.L. East ----- Pittsburgh Bucs

    N.L. West ----- Reds

    How's that for picking'em ?
128.32The card I need to Complete the Set!!AKOV13::GASPARONITue Sep 18 1990 19:296
    John,

    Thats great!! Hope I win. I need that card to complete the set.
    Those Red Sox better not "blow it", that was the only team I'm not
    100% sure of. I can only think that they will come up short again,
    and disappoint all of us. Those Red Flops, Manila Folders, etc.
128.33No Winners.AKOV13::GASPARONITue Sep 18 1990 19:375
    You know, I just went through this contest file, and none of you guys
    are even close. Not one person picked the BUC's. So no one wins, and
    John will role the prize over to 1991 along with a 1990 set of
    Topps,DR,FL,UD,CC. Oh, the Gedman Pepsi card also. Better luck next
    year.
128.35You Hit a guy when he's down!AKOV13::GASPARONIWed Sep 19 1990 12:4012
    Milwaukee Brewers! Oh no, the YANKEES. It really hurts. All I can
    say is, "WAIT 'TILL NEXT YEAR". Where have I heard that before??
    Maybe in Boston??

    I want to repick my picks:

    Toronto in the EAst
    Oakland in the WEst
    New York in the EAst (at least one NY team made it)
    Cinnci in the WEst

    My revised picks.
128.37Yea...but......EUCLID::MACFARLANEThu Oct 04 1990 16:415
    John, you mean I get NOTHING for predicting the Mariners would
    win 77 games!! No tiebreaker condiderations, no Pepsi Geddy.....
    NOTHING??????

128.38MPO::ST_ONGEFri Oct 12 1990 11:0111
    Well this year's contest winner is Mike Downs who will receive the
    1988 Topps set. 2nd place finisher was Pat Macfarlane who will re-
    ceive a 1989 Topps wax box. Last place finisher is Rick Jacunski
    who will receive a Terry Cooney "TAXI" card - 'You talking to me'
    from next years highlights set along with a Roger Clemens bobbing
    head doll ;-) And as promised, Rick Gasparoni will receive a Rich
    Gedman Pepsi card for his Mickey Mantle collection.

    Congratulations to the winners. Watch for next year's contest.
