122.0. "Classic Cards (All years, all colors)" by BLKWDO::RABINO () Mon Mar 19 1990 19:22

Bo Jackson fans or collectors file, my son and i have been collecting

most of his cards. The hot item is the one that has BO written on the

back and a picture of him wearing shoulder pads and a bat over his

shoulders. Also a hot one is his football card. I'd like to hear from

other Bo fans, and the cards you have.

     Hello John,

No I sure don't what does it go for (yen,$$$$$,) is it priced in the

collectables? We don't get such cards in the west coast, Classic green

is that a brand name? What other ones do you have? Who do you mostly

    collect, Macguire, Conseco, Boggs,?????

                              Have a nice one,

Its spring training time ,time to get them signed.

I believe the "Classic" set John is refering to is the travel game set
that is issued in a blister-pack with dice and rules for playing. The
cards issued with the game are used when playing it. I seen them, both
in set form, and for sale as idividual singles (I'm on the West Coast,
also). The "green" designation has to do with the color of the card
border, which changes with each set. Some are "scarcer" than others,
and the green set may be one of them. In fact now that I've looked it
up (in the Baseball Card Price Guide by Dr. James Beckett, hereafter
to be known as "the big book") The green set is the 1st issue by Game
Time, Ltd. It has a value (100 card set) of $18.00 NrMnt. #15, Bo
Jackson, lists for $1.00 in NrMnt.

As an addendum, the green set was followed by three 50 card update
sets. The original green set was issued in 1987, then came yellow
(1987), red (1988), and blue (1988). Last year was purple (I think)
and this year's color is eluding me at present.

    1988 blue

Anyway, they're around. It may take some time scrounging around dealers
and shows to come up with them, but to me that's one of the main
    enjoyments of the hobby.

I hope this information helps, good luck!

     Hello KCW,

Was that $55.00 the Beckett list price or collectors price?

What year did the Classic card set premier? I seen the Bo card

with him having a set of shoulder pads on and a bat list for

$8.00 and going up. Thats great but I only have two of them.

They say Conseco will be coming back up again this year, we
    hope.

122.10The Real Classic CardsBOSOX::WALWORTHWed May 09 1990 12:147
The Classic Cards debut was 1987 the green border ones. Bo is kneeling
with his Auburn football uniform on swinging a bat. Classic game
cards have the word Classic on the front. The cards go with the
    game.

    Regards,
