108.0. "Pennants" by BOGUSS::DAMIANO (Tofu is Japanese for whale snot) Wed Feb 07 1990 19:49

Does anyone else collect pennants? I'm starting to get a nice
collection together, what with all the recent all-star, playoff,
and world series action around here. I don't have any extra's to
trade, but I thought I'd mention them because to me they're an
interesting sideline to collecting cards. I even dug up an old
1960 Giants pennant my dad saved from the first game he took me
to as a youngster ( I was four years old). I also found with it
some old Angels and Dodger pennants from the mid-sixties that my
older brother and I collected (as well as pennants from assorted
    places like Disneyland, Yosemite, etc.).

Whenever I flip through them, it brings back all kinds of nice
memories of games and trips with with my brother and dad. I really
enjoy having them (whatever the condition), and I was wondering
if anybody else had the same kind of stuff around. The neat part
about them is that they only cost $3.00 - $5.00 apiece, and it's
a great way to remember a special day, year, or series. I've got one
from the 1987 NLCS that the Giants ultimately lost to the Cardinals,
one from the 1989 NLCS that the Giants won in a trilling homestand,
and one from the 1989 World Series that they failed in so miserably
and completely. I even have one from 1982, the first year I moved
up from L.A. to the S.F. Bay area to live (my first year with DEC!).

As I look at my pile of pennants, it occurs to me that there must
be some way to better protect them. Does anyone know of some kind
of plastic sleeve available that would allow me to display them
while protecting them from dirt and dust? I need at least 10 or
15 of them. Any info would be appreciated!

I have some pennants from when I was younger; my favorite is a New York
Jets one that Joe Namath signed with his *left* hand in 1970 when his
right arm was broken and he was on the disabled list.

Others are some of the Pirates' world series pennants and other Pirates
    and Steelers pennants.
