    'Eight Men Out'. Would be interesting. A card of Pete and his

    Huntsville, Alabama is taking orders for them, but did not indicated
    a timeframe for availability & delivery.

98.14Any Errors Yet???PNO::HORNWed Jan 17 1990 20:361
    Have any topps 1990 miss-prints been found yet? If so, which ones.
98.18new checklists and ugly cards16930::GOULD_ROMon Feb 05 1990 08:128
    Why are the new cards so ugly? They seem to get worse rather than
    better. What happened to the checklists? It seems they are organized
    by teams and not by number... What a mess, perhaps they are put
    together by the same people who screwed up the DEC price book.
      Does Topps checlist #6 list the all-stars,RB's and special cards?

    This guy by the name of Cecil Espy does anyone out there know how
    much his error card is worthf If anyone out there wants to get rid
    of their Topps Baseball cards I will be happy to take them off their
    hands. I personally like them because, I like allbaseball cards.

    When will the whole set be available?

    Thanks, a friend of mine told me that Topp's doesn't make a factory
    set. I've seen them though. Does someone else collate them then?
    If that's the case aren't they hand collated too? This stuff gets
    more confusing the more I get into it. Thanks again.
98.29DLO15::BOSSOFri Mar 16 1990 18:307
    re:-1

    Topps collates their factory sets (as far as I know) same as the other
    manufacturers. Typically a hand collated set is one put together by a
    collector or dealer.

                        I guess this goes in here. Does anyone have
         information on the TOPPS collector sets - (1990 ALL-STAR, and
         1990 20/20 Club) made just for the AMES department stores?
                        Thanks in advance for any help.

    1990 Topps traded are out this year in wax packs. 7 cards to a pack,
    the quality is the same as the regular issue unlike in years past.
    The big name rookie are Justice, Maas, Ben MacDonald, Naehring, Sandy
    Alomar, John Olerud. Out of two boxes I have 1 complete set and almost
    a second. Probably had close to 3 but I didn't count the cards that
    have wax damage. Also there is no gum in the packs. Anyone know where
    to find boxes for 132 card sets?

    John

     Traded sets are going from $11 to $13 here in Mass. How much did you
    pay for wax boxes and where did you see'em? With the cards that are in the
    traded sets, you can look for prices to rise quickly . Is Fryman there?

    I'm interested in the wax traded boxes. Where were these seen?

98.36DEALIN::DIFONZOFri Oct 26 1990 15:165
    Yes Travis Fryman is also in the set. The sets that some of you
    have seen at shows do they come in the regular boxes?

98.37Brown boxes from Topps.....WRKSYS::SCHWARTZFri Oct 26 1990 15:264

     Yes they kind of look like the 84 traded set boxes. Brown. Would love
    to see somebody hand me the wrong set. :-) You know what I mean? The
    guy that "got" me the week before.

    FYI

    The Topps traded cards come in two varities... If you buy the sets
    you'll get a 'white' back... If you buy the wax packs you get 'yellow'
    back...

      ????? What did I miss here? The ones that I have are yellow backed
    and come in the standard traded box that is usually issued to dealers.
    Toys R Us had the sets in a package that I had never seen before. The
    box was wide in width and narrow in depth and came in a green box.
    The cost was up there at $16.95 a set. Almost double what I paid for
    the standard cards.
98.41WRKSYS::SCHWARTZMon Oct 29 1990 15:144

    Thanks John. They must be well hidden. I had not seen any before.
    Very pricey though at $16.95 when you can get the regular for $9
    if you shop around.

    Article I read recently in a local paper said that in 1991 Topps would
    issue it's traded set in wax packs. I wasn't aware they were out there
    this year. Must be a test.

98.43DEALIN::DIFONZOTue Oct 30 1990 11:245
    I don't know if the Traded cards are a test issue or not but I saw them
    at a card show this weekend and they were selling for 50 cents/pack. No
    dealer markup or hype , FWIW.

    I got 3 packs, and got 2 Cecil Fielders, so I don't have a lot of
    motivation to get any more, except for a Travis Fryman... I'll
    probably get the box set anyway...

     Just curious. Were the traded wax higher quality than those of regular
    wax? Did you have to throw away cards because of wax stains?
98.46DEALIN::DIFONZOTue Oct 30 1990 13:413
    Every pack had 1 wax stained card.

98.47Wax Traded Scarce???QBUS::T_ROCCARead my lips, no second term...Wed Oct 31 1990 01:187
    Show on Sunday just north of Atlanta had a run on the Traded Wax Packs.
    Only one dealer had any at all and he sold out just after they opened
    the doors. Seems there was an article in the paper saying that Topps
    would only put out so many traded waxes. Some of the dealers I spoke
    with didn't know Topps was putting the traded cards out other than
    sets. They need to read this file and get educated, like I try to do.
    Thanks to all the contributors...
98.49DEALIN::DIFONZOWed Oct 31 1990 11:4911
    I could be wrong but I don't think the Traded wax are scarce. Two
    things tell me this. First at a show I went to this weekend , some
    dealers did have traded wax and they were selling for 50 cents a pack.
    I don't remember people scooping them up either. And secondly , the
    wholesaler I get my cards from had the wax packs out front, usually for
    scarce things like 1988 and 1989 Fleer baseball cards he has held these
    in another room and only offers them to "loyal" customers. Please don't
    shoot me if you could have put you children threw college with money
    you could have made on traded wax though :^)

    	I saw an ad over the weekend in the Globe for the Topps 1990
    	Major League Rookie Debut Baseball set. This is a 171 card
    	set of all the rookie debuts from 1990. It looks like they
    	took the regular issue of the rookie card and reprinted them
    	with the Major League Debut logo and date in the upper left
    	corner. Has anyone seen these (or the 1989 set) and are they
    	worth $19.95??
