I'm going to the show tomorrow night at the KofC Hall in Fitchburg.
I just started collecting and have never been to one of these before. I
imagine it won't be too big, but I don't really know. Any suggestions
on what to look for, what to watch out for, what to expect, etc. would
    be appreciated.
                                    Thanks,
                                            Denny

    - Always check the whole show out before buying anything. If it's
new or recent, you're likely to find it elsewhere cheaper. The
first few tables (near the entrance) often have the highest prices
because there's an awful lot of "impulse buyers".

    - If it's older, unique, or something you've looked for, for a while.
BUY IT. It won't be there when you get back.

    - If you buy a set, open the box RIGHT THERE and make sure all the
cards are there, and all the star/key cards are in the shape they're
purported to be. Don't walk away from the table w/out doing this
or you pretty much throw your rights out the window.

    - If the card is in a semi-rigid or a screw-down holder, make the
dealer show it to you OUT of the holder. Those holders will mask
a lot of flaws. Make sure you turn the card a number of different
ways/directions, trying to catch the light on all parts of the card,
and different lighting on each part. Cards that look perfect will
reveal scratches, rough spots, stains, etc.

    - What to watch out for? The guy on the other side of the table!
      8^)

    - What to expect? A good time. A lot more cards in one place than
you've ever seen before. A lot of stuff you'll want, but can't
afford, or at least not all at once. A flood of childhood and
      youthful memories and nostalgia.

Remember if it's fairly new or recent, there's not a rush, so if
it seems of questionable origin/shape/price, hold off.

Thanks for the tips, I'm trying to 'budget' myself. But we all know
    what can happen to budgets!!
Do most of the dealers accept checks?

I went on Sat. Got Spahn's auto. on a ball for 8 bucks. I bought the
ticket at the door and had to wait about an hour for my group (G) to be
called. Matthews showed up about an hour after Spahn. I think it was
scheduled like that. I couldn't wait around for him to sign.
Aaron and Feller were there Sun. I pre-paid paid $21 for an Aaron
ball. I have Pats season tickets (I can take a joke) so I couldn't make
it Sun. The guy running the show is going to mail me the ball.
I didn't have a whole lot of money so I didn't look at things too
hard. I saw uncut sheets there. I haven't been going to shows long and
this is the first time I'd seen them.

    Jon,
the best show that weekend will be in Burlington, Days Inn hotel.
It will be on Sunday, from 9 to 3pm. Days Inn located near the
intersection of 128 and Middlesex turnpike. If you're looking for
