13.5Found a couple ads ...ARMORY::DANIELETWed May 27 1987 18:545
    I found two ads for "Hard Card Cases" in the SCD. They range from
    $.20 to $.28 each depending on the quantity. I'll send you copies
    of the ads. One dealer even offers a "free" sample.

    Roy,

    	If you've got extra money to "blow" on those junk Kmart sets,
    why can't you part with a "measly" $4.50 ???

    re:  .0   Mylar singles

    RJ,
    	I think that what you are looking for is not the hard cases
    which hold multiple cards but the single sleeve. If I am correct
    in this then you might try:

    				U.S. Gerslyn, LTD.
    				1100 Port Washington Blvd
    				Port Washington, NY  11050

    		Toll Free	1-800-GERSLYN

    	They are offering a single pocket product which they claim is
    clear.
    	Prices are: .07 each in 100 quantity lots
    		       .06 each in 500 quantity lots
    		       .05 each in 1000 quantity lots
                       .04 each in 5000 quantity lots
                       .03 each in 10000 quantity lots

    Hope they have what you are looking for.

13.17Displays anyone?SALEM::DODAWalker + VIKINGS = SUPERBOWLThu Nov 09 1989 16:197
Anyone know where one can pick up autograph ball displays at a
reasonable price. My old source is gone and I'm looking at paying
about $7 each. I'm specifically looking for the type with the
wooden base with a ball and single card stand.

Thanks

13.18Does anyone know??BOGUSS::DAMIANOHigh and deep....It's gone!!Tue Nov 21 1989 21:249
    I thought that there used to be addresses for Rotman and Enor in
    this notesfile, but after searching for them, I couldn't find any.
    Can anyone furnish the Address/phone# for these or other Poly-sheet
    manufacturing companies? I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks,

13.20TRY THIS PLACESAHQ::RJONESWed Nov 29 1989 18:184
    You might try a place called BATTER UP in on Sandy Planes road in
    Marietta Georgia. Sorry I don't have their phone number but they have a
    good collection of Photo's as well as sources for them. Most however
    are 8x10 though....I think.
13.21The Mick Autogragh PictureAKOV13::GASPARONIThu Feb 01 1990 15:578
    Looking for An autogragh of Mickey Mantle, you best selection is at
    Cooperstown NY, about one block down from the Hall of Fame. The
    selection is great, but you pay dearly! But the selection is just
    outstanding, they have top quality stuff. If your looking in the
    Boston area, I suggest two places, one, at Fanueil Hall,(my spelling
    stinks, I'm an accountant), or attend a show at the Sturbridge
    Sheraton, alot of dealers have real nice autograghs of the MICK for
    cheap, $45 to $85. Good Luck, hope it helps.

re: Hall of Fame shop

That would be America's Pastime. My friend bought an autographed
Mick photo, framed and matted for a cool $185.00

You name it, they have it. I had my eye on the bat signed by Red
Sox batting champions Yaz, Williams, Boggs etc, but I couldn't
bring myself to pay the $350 for it.

Nice shop though...

13.23Next year, Am. Pasttimes will be charging Admiss.AKOV12::GASPARONIThu Feb 15 1990 16:026
    I think American Pastimes has better Memorabilia than the HOF. Your
    surely right, they do have everything you could think of, and its such
    great stuff. If I ever hit the lottery, I'm heading up their to buy
    that shop out, store and all. I would love to own something like that
    some day. I could look at that stuff for days without getting bored.

     My son and I just went thru this dilemma. When we started noticing
    cards that we had bought at shows. We finally found them at a place
    called Great expectations ( I think that's the name) in Fitchburg.
     Another place that carries the best supplies in the hobby is
     Rottman's in Worchester Ma.. they might have them also. I also see
    them advertised in SCD a lot.

13.27Long trip if they don't have'em.WRKSYS::SCHWARTZTue Aug 28 1990 11:1416

     Roy,

      It is on main st. on your right in the first or second block
    after the street turns to a one way. Call them first. I don't have
     a number, but they should be in the directory. He only had about
    4 packs when I was there and I bought what he had. I would think
    that he would have restocked by now.
     Rottman's is closer to us though and they carry just about every
    high quality supply item that you can think of. The only drawback is
    that they are only open Mon. thru Fri. until 5:30 PM. Anyone who has
    used their page protectors (9 pocket top loaders) will agree with me
    that they are the best. I hope that I am thinking of the same product
    that you are looking for. The ones that I use are 3 mills and kind of
    krinkely like you described. I could not find a pack unopened so I
    could verify that they were indeed Mylites.
13.28Lookin for a large card protector!!!WRKSYS::SCHWARTZFri Oct 26 1990 15:1011

      Help! I am looking for a "display" protection for uncut sheets.
    I looked all thru this weeks SCD but saw nothing. I would prefer
    someplace I could drive to rather than order from. Believe me!
    this has to be one "big" card sleeve. I want to display it and not
    just roll it up and forget about it.

13.29PlexiglasNUTMEG::JACUNSKIFri Oct 26 1990 15:558
    I imagine any kind of sleeve or envelope that big would look wicked
    wrinkly, and to shrinkwrap something that big you'd need to give it a
    rigid backing, like a piece of wood. I'd spring for a sheet of the
    thinnest plexiglas available (1/8"?) and screw it to a piece of
    paneling or something. Or maybe two sheets of plexi screwed together
    like a big version of one of those individual card holders. Or you
    could just cut the sheet and put the individual cards in PVC (PCV?
    PFC?) free mylar sleeves 8^).
13.31frame itSAHQ::RJONESFri Oct 26 1990 18:062
    You could go to a frame shop and get it framed if you want it really
    for display like on a wall or somewhere.
13.32Did you see the size of that card holder?WRKSYS::SCHWARTZMon Oct 29 1990 11:2212

      Re.30

      Thanks John. That is kind of what I am looking for, but I don't
    know how they would ship something like that. They couldn't roll it
    up so I imagine shipping costs will be out of sight. Will UPS deliver
    something that bulky and large? I will check them out and if it is
    to expensive, I have a friend in Hudson Mass. who builds custom frames
    for a good price. Either way, I think it's going to be expensive

13.33Air-Tite Holders??AKOV13::GASPARONIWed Nov 07 1990 19:019
    I just sent away for a sample, ($1) to a place in Dalton, Ma, Air-Tite
    card holders. No screws, just bend the plexi-glass and the top piece
    kind of pops out. I put a card in the case, it appears to be pretty
    tight, will fit the older cards, 52T and the newer cards pretty well.
    Has anyone else experienced or used this type of card holder, and are
    they worth the money. 25 can be purchased for about $13.75 w/ a
    carrying box. They lay flat and are better looking than the screw or
    plastic screw type which come in all odd shapes and sizes. These are
    all standard sizes.

Rick,

     Do you have the address for this company?? If so, could you
e-mail it to me or post it in the conference?

     Thanx.

13.35Air-tite Cases.AKOV13::GASPARONIThu Nov 08 1990 11:3215
    The name of the company is :

    Air-Tite Holders, Inc.
    P.O. Box 83
    Dalton, MA.  01227

    The cases are offically called Protex Card Cases.
    For a $1. you get a sample.

    The deal that they send you with the sample is 25 cases plus a case box
    for $13.75. Its there special deal. They also have volumn discounts
    for dealers who want to buy 50, 100, 500, and the prices are .60/ea,
    .55/ea, and .50/ea.

    Not bad for the money, and they are considered hard cases.
13.36Protex vs. Snap-ItAISG::DRAGERRoboco-opThu Nov 08 1990 13:2022

     Thanx for the info, Rick! I was hoping that there would
be an actual address for this company as I'm originally from
that part of the state (Pittsfield) and will be heading that
way in a couple of weeks for some of Grandmom's Turkey/Cran-
berry/Football (she plays a tough Right Outside Linebacker :^)).

     These holders sound similar to another brand known as
Snap-It. Snap-It's have IMO two nice features: an 'indented'
area for the card to rest in (so the top and bottom covers
don't *MASH* the card) and the ability to be 'stacked' on top
of each other to avoid scratches. I was getting these at a
show for about a buck a piece. I don't know if they're worth
the money, but, they're something new and IMO are nicer than
the standard 'screw' holders.

     Are you familiar with this brand, and if so, could you
compare the two?

13.37I think there the same, but no sure.AKOV13::GASPARONIFri Nov 09 1990 15:5917
    Never really have had any experience with the ones your talking about,
    but I was wondering the same thing. I bet there very simular, the one
    I have, has the option of flipping the top plate over, and it holds
    either the bigger cards, or the other side, for the smaller newer
    cards. There probably the same case, with the distributor being
    different. I'm not totally sold on these, but like you said, they lay
    flat, and no screws are needed, they don't scratch up as easily, and
    there pretty air tight, not waterproof, but close, and finally, the
    cost is right, .55/ea. The only thing I don't like is that once the
    card is in the case, it doesn't have a nice border look to it. It just
    seems to "just" fit, where the bigger case has a nicer look to it, alot
    of room around the card. But, they scratch up easier, so theres a
    tradeoff somewhere. I think for $13.75, I'll take a chance and buy
    25 for my good cards, which are all my cards, because I only collect
    Mickey Mantle cards. What I want to find is a case that is air tight
    and water proof, so nothing hits the cards. Do you know of any of this
    type, besides the sealed up tite cases by Acu-card??
13.39AISG::DRAGERRoboco-opFri Nov 09 1990 17:329
     Nope, I have yet to see or hear of a waterproof card holder.

     Actually Rick, your collection sounds like it should be placed in
a wall plaque and mounted on a wall... I've seen displays like this
that are fabulous.

13.40My wife might Micro-wave the container.AKOV13::GASPARONIFri Nov 09 1990 19:3613
    I like the idea of frozen food containers, I'm just worried I might or
    the little wifey might pull the container out of the freezer and plunck
    it in the micro wave oven and zapp all my Mantle cards to ash. Pooff!
    All gone. Just memories, know what I mean.

    But seriously, I just got my issue of the Topps Magazine, and it says
    that cards have to breathe, and card holders that are air-tite are
    bad, because the card will dry, and get brittle, and will flake away,
    so the card must have constant air flow. Now thats a new twist to
    me. I figured the airtite case would preserve the card from humidiy,
    etc. I'm confused. I think I'm going back to the cigar box in the
    attic.

13.41Wall DisplaysFUTURE::JST_ONGEJohn St.Onge USDSL DTN 275-2715Thu Jan 14 1993 10:519
    I ordered a bunch of shoe boxes, 3200 count boxes etc. and I also
    ordered a few of those 30 card wall displays. I put a whole set of
    the Topps Turn Back the Clock subsets in one of the displays. Looks
    nice. I also put the Upper Deck Heroes Checklist cards (the ones
    that are paintings/drawings) along with a few other UD special
    painting/drawing cards (Ryan 5000 strikeouts, Schmidt Retires etc.)
    and it makes a nice display.
