987.0. "Top. Changes only for Logical Bridge Group 1" by UTOPIE::BRAUN_R () Wed May 21 1997 08:03

(cross-posted in GIGASWITCH and HUB_MGMT)

Hi all,

last weekend we installed 2 independent logical bridge groups (with
corresponding learning domains) in our customer's GIGAswitch-network
(v3.1)
Installation was done with ClearVISN 6.0 (latest version) and everything
worked perfectly.
But there is a small pitfall:
When using the bridge-menu of ClearVISN connected to the GIGAswitch,
the field "Last Topology Change" seems to be shown only for the the
(default) logical bridge group 1, even after having selected logical
bridge group 2 (showing the correct ports of this bridge group).

This could be a GIGAswitch- or a ClearVISN-bug, the problem seems to
be in incorrect handling of the SNMP-variables, not appending the
bridge group number, thereby referring to the default value of 1.

Reading the same value from a DECswitch 900EF, connected to logical
bridge group 2, shows the correct value, proving the existence of
the topology change.

Should I fill an IPMT ?
Against GIGAswitch ?
Against ClearVISN ?

Thanks,
Ralph

My money says it's a GIGAswitch problem. We probably never updated the
MIB object when we did learning domains.

...yes, if you want visibility on the problem, file an IPMT.
