Hello,
I've got a technical question about the connectors used on the cards on the
GIGAswitch/FDDI.
They use "press fit" connectors and I have problems on these connections.
During demonstrations, the modules are inserted and removed a couple of times.
Some of the connectors then start having intermittant contacts. Also on
certain (not all) modules the connectors are fixed via a melted plastic
standoff on the etch side, some are not fixed on this side.
The only thing I have to do is solder the connectors which solves the problem.
My question is, why do they use these type of connectors? and why are some
connectors not fixed on the board. This will cause intermittant problems which
is in my opinion worse than a hard failure.
