918.0. "Trap address setable via OBM port ..." by BERFS4::NORD () Wed Jan 29 1997 12:28

    Good morning, good evening, good afternoon and all between all over the
    world,

    if I have read the release notes to the GS/FDDI V3.1 firmware the right
    way, it seems to be possible, to set the trap address for the GS/FDDI
    via the OBM port, as I can do with all our DEChub components.

    Is this true ???

    And if so, how can it be done, is there an example? The problem is the
    missed guide EK-GOBM-MG rel. B01.

    Thanks in advance

        It should be possible. When I have time, I'll try to provide an
    example - it won't be anytime soon.

        ...incidently, this does not work in BL3.10 of the SCP op firmware.

         When it's fixed, I'll post a new reply here.

918.3Thanks for the answer, but ...BERFS4::NORDFri Feb 07 1997 14:5619

    Hi Michael,

    thanks for testing that feature, I would have done that test next week
    and then I have had to log a call, 'cause setting a SNMP-variable is a
    nice feature, and if we support "SET", we have to do it for all the
    "set-able SNMP-variables". Nearby, setting a trap-address is a feature,
    which all the HUB-based products have, or the most of them, so I didn't
    understand what the problem is with the GS/FDDI (also on GS/ATM?). It's
    only one menu-point more in the setting of IP-addresses or whereever
    someone wants to set such a feature.

    Thanks in advance, I'll watch this conference to see, whether it is
    possible to set a trap address via the OBM-port or not.

    >  ... (also on GS/ATM?) ...

    The trap destination for GIGAswitch/ATM is settable through a menu, but
    not through SNMP.

    I don't know how traps are configured on GIGAswitch/FDDI.
918.5What menu do you mean ... ?BERFS4::NORDMon Feb 10 1997 05:1411

    Hi Thomas,

    on GIGAswitch/FDDI, there is no such a menu, which enables you, to set
    the trap destination, not with the so known OBM menu. This is what I'm
    looking for.

    Thanks for your answer.

918.6And which documentation ... ?BERFS4::NORDMon Feb 10 1997 05:299

    PS: Thomas, what firmware version do you talking about, I haven't found
    anything about setting the trap address, I have looked in the system
    management guide of GS/ATM AA-QCV8C-TE, whicg is from June 1996.

    Many thanks in advance
