410.0. "DOUBLE DRAGON II (Has Arrived)" by RVAX::BELLIVEAU () Tue Jan 23 1990 15:36

      Double Dragon II. It has finally arrived. The thrill and action
    of the arcade version in your own home. It has a new twist and very
    good graphics along with a sound of realism. I actually feel sorry
    about the guys and gals I hit and kick. (not really)

    Yes you can go through the "TEN" Missions with 2 Players. There
    was a good handful of these games left at Child World in Nashua
    last night. You best get them quick I am sure they will go like
    hot cakes. I purchased it for 49.99. After a couple of tries at
    it I think this will be well worth the 49.99.

    Well on with the Mission....

410.1Will my kids enjoy it??ANDOVR::LEONARDWed Jan 24 1990 00:251
    Mike, how does it compare with Double Dragon I?????
410.2Simultaneous play with DD IIBRAT::SMITHNever say never, I always say.Wed Jan 24 1990 10:379
    	re: .1

    	I'm not who you asked, but I know that one of the significant
    	differences is that two players can play simultaneously! Each
    	player controls one of the Lee Brothers and you both fight your
    	way through the game together.

                                                                   Mike

410.3The Return of the DragonsRVAX::BELLIVEAUWed Jan 24 1990 15:2515
                 -_\ Yes Its Back on Track /_-

    Yes I must admit when Nintendo came out with Double Dragon I
    I was so excited and couldn't wait to get it until I heard
    of the single player setup. This turned me off.

    But now that the Simultaneous Action is in I just had to get
    it.

    re: .1 If your kids liked Double Dragon I of Nintendo or the Arcade
           Version they should love this one.

    It seems that the Double Dragons have had some extensive training
    since Double Dragon I. They know some new moves that help you
    get through the Missions.
410.4Tell me more about DD IIGIAMEM::ELSBREESun Jan 28 1990 15:1223

    How closely does this game follow the original arcade version?
    More specifically:

    Do you get pound on one guy for a while, or is it just one punch
    and their dead? I always liked slamming their faces against my
    knee, and then flipping them over my head.

    Is movement restricted to just moving to the left and right of the
    screen, or can you move to the character's left and right as well?
    In other words can you move in four different directions on the
    ground level, allowing you to walk around the enemies?

    Is there any sort of a continue feature? When two people are playing,
    if one is killed, can they rejoin the game?

    I know that Ninja Gaiden, in the arcade, was similar to Double
    Dragon, but the Nintendo version of NG is completely different from the
    arcade version. I'm hoping that Double Dragon II will be more like
    the arcade version.

    My son discovered how to get extra men if you want to play single
    player. You start off on level 2b with 2 guys and keep killing
    off the second player with the first and as you beat him you will
    get the extra lives.

    On the tip sheet (note 407) it says you can continue using:
    U,R,D,L,A,B
    Unfortunately, I can't get this to work. Any ideas?
