425.0. "Magic of Scheherazade" by CLUSTA::EFRANK () Wed Feb 28 1990 15:41

I recently got the game "Magic of Scheherazade". It is an excellent game. It
combines adventure and role play into one. It takes place in old arabia, and you
are an arabian night who must rescue the princess. You must go through 5 Chapters
of the story, defeating the demon in each one. Within each chapter, there is a
time door to take you to the past or in one case, the future. You can go to the
University to learn magic (sometimes there is an exam you must pass). You can
gamble at the casino....

There are two types of fight scenes. One is like a Zelda type of fight scene,
the other is like Ultima, but more detailed. There is a lot to do in the game,
You can choose to be a fighter, saint, or magician. Each has different abilities.
There is a password feature which will save all your items that you collect.

This is a very good game. I have goten to chapter 3 but I can't kill
the salamander. You have to go back 3000 years to kill him but I still
can not figure how to beat him. Nintendo hotline did'nt even know how
to defeat him when I called.

I'm curious that there is so little acticity in this topic.
"Magic of" is really an excellent game - although the password
is long and tedious to deal with.

Is this game too new to have very many players? Other opinions
    as to its worth?

No real opinion, 'cept that I liked it. It took me a while to figure
out how to play this thing but once I got the hang, I had a good time.

One thing I did not like though......

When you are battling the bad guys, you have no control over the actual
battle. Of course, you do have input as to how you will DO the
battling, but the actual battle is computer run.

425.6Great gameDUGGAN::WILLINGERMon Apr 02 1990 18:0314
Excellent game. Combines attributes of past hits: Zelda, Dragon
Warrior, Faxanadu. I especially like the features of time travelling,
and the actions that result from doing something in the past to effect
the future. This is one of the most intricate games to date, offering
mazes, puzzles and more than adequate adventure for the Nintendo
    enthusiast.

re:-1 There are multiple battle scenarios. Some are command-oriented
like Ultima, Dragon Warrior, Shadowgate, and some are "live-action"
like Zelda and Faxanadu. The combination of possibilities - using
allies or troopers to fight with you against multiple foes - makes
the command style fighting much more interesting than ever before.
But when you go up against the "Boss" of each level, it's strictly
    one-on-one with action combat.

Need help on killing Gorogora. I use the flameola to turn him into
balls and come close to killing him. But then he turns back into
his lovable self, turns me into a hamburger and evil triumphs once
again. Nothing I do sems to help. Hints and minor spoilers would be
    greatly appreciated.

Which world is Gorogora in? I'm on the third world, and broke,
looking for the place to plant the rupia's seed. I've found
the place in the future where you harvest it.

I think this game is great - particularly now since I've gotten
our good tv back from the shop (it was there for 10 weeks!) and
can actually see how much bread and etc. I have. (the old tv
had rounded edges and cut that info off - it's been costly,
    I assure you)

My son beat the game, first go all the way to the left of the screen
so that rogora can't hurt you. Then use flameola to turn him into
balls. Then shoot him as many times as you can before he changes
back. Next go to the left of the screen again and use flameola again
and repeat the process until he dies. Make sure you have experience
level to 25 and ten breads and ten mashroobs.

A question... May have some spoiler information on the desert world,
    so question follows <FF>.

I am in the desert world (second world) and am trying to
get through the maze to find the friend that will help me get across
the desert to attack Curly. I have the maze figured out but can't get
through the last passage (from south to north) to get into the last
room where I assume the friend is. I keep falling into a separate room
where the only exit is back outside the maze. I have tried the Jump
magic and several others with no success. Any help?

    Thanks,

There's a pattern. There may be more than one way to do it, but
what I did was: I'd go along the right wall for ten (small) steps
and then go left a couple steps, and then go straight again. I
forget how many steps it is from there (about 15, I think) and
then I'd stop, and use the JUMP magic over the invisible cavern.

The point is to count steps and see just where it is you fall,
get right up to that point, and jump. There are at least
two places to fall, which is why I zigged and zagged en route
    to the JUMP magic spot.

    Have fun!

I just started playing. In the desert world (chapter two), there is a
harvest field in one desert of the "present". But in the "past", the
areas you can get to do not overlap the present location of the harvest
field -- so where is the planting field? Is it in one of the screens
of the past, even though they do not overlap the harvest field?

Also, does it matter if I didn't do everything in chapter one, like
take all the magic classes or even perform the magic for the one class
    I did take?

re -.1

The planting field is in one of the hidden underground doors somewhere in the
past...I forget exactly where. I don't believe you need to use all the magic to
move on with the game.

I would definitely take all the classes you can. Not only do
you get useful information about formations, but after
completing a particular class, you will be able to upgrade
    one of your weapons.

I believe he's the guy they're talking about when they say you
don't have enough friends. I believe you'll find him tucked
away in a building in the city after you go through the water.
But he'll only join you if you are a certain character.

As for the Raincom spell, don't waste your time. In fact,
only the Monecom and Moscom spells are really helpful. You
don't need the Raincom spell to beat this game.

I am in the endgame -- in the Palace of Sabaron. I have the Legend
Sword and the Light Armor; I am in the part of the palace beyond the
door requiring the Light Armor. My questions contain spoilers.

Now what? I found a door I am told Sabaron is behind, but the door
does not open. I found a place where the walls are red bubbles and I
reach a chamber which has walls of bubbles left and right, columns
along the top, and a single entrance/exit at the bottom. Nothing I do
in that room produces any effect, except using the ring to get out.

I suppose I'm looking for the red moon and white star from which I
shoot the column, but how do I find them? Do I need to map the palace,
or is the room I mentioned the place I want to be?

Sounds to me like you're in the right place, but there's a
pattern you need to discover. I'd give you an outright spoiler
if I could remember it. It's something like this:

    from first room, go east
    next room, go north
    next room, go west

It's actually a very simple pattern, once you stumble into it,
but I recall spending a couple of frustrating hours walking
around until I fell into it. You'll definitely know you're
on the right track before you get to the stars, as the scenery
changes. You'll walk through a couple of rooms and then
meet someone/something (I forget) who gives you a spiel,
you stand on the stars and shoot and Sabaron appears.
