    Has anyone out there played Mystery Quest? My son got it and he
    can't seam to be able to go through any of the castle. Once he gets

279.2We are stuck also.TIS::LEPIREThu Jun 15 1989 19:088
    My wife and I have managed to find several items such as magic scroll,
    sos raft, several keys, and 1/2 moons but have not managed to get out
    of the first castle. We are stuck at the emerald and can not manage to
    jump high enough to get it. The exit is not far away ( I have seen it)
    but can not yet reach it. Hopefully the emerald is the last thing to
    get before the exit.

    My son and I have rented the game and have the same problem. It seems
    like a game that I might want to purchase IF we can just get further
    along.

    We have made it to the "blue" castle and can move a ways through it but
    appear to get stuck.

    We have made it to the "red" castle but cannot get past the second "pit
    of nails" on the first level.

    It appears as if there needs to be a way to jump higher.

    Any suggestions?
279.4Is the game always the same?BCSE::WEIERThu Aug 16 1990 13:0723
    Looks like this was a mistake ...... I just bought Mystery Quest last
    night and was wondering a couple of simple things;

    Is the game exactly the same each time you play it? It seems to me
    that sometimes some of the 'magic things' are there, and other times
    they aren't.

    And .... is it obvious when you come to another castle? I haven't made
    it real long in the 'first' screen, but I would've thought I'd have seen
    SOMEthing by now.

    For those of you who are stuck .... I wonder if - in the VERY beginning
    of the game, if you go backwards, you can collect a 1-way arrow going
    the other way - does this have something to do with it? There's also a
    large green wall here, but I never could get over it.

    Overall, it's a fun game. The little scorpions are driving me nuts,
    and those flying blue things give me a heart attack, but I like it.

    Obviously if you get stuck it's no fun!! If anyone's interested it's
    on sale at Ames this week for $14.99 (which is why I bought it!),
    regular price $54.99 !!!!

279.5Is this any help?BCSE::WEIERPatty, DTN 381-0877Thu Oct 11 1990 14:558
    Well, I loaned out Mystery Quest to a couple of boys of a guy I work
    with ..... and they got quite far with it. Apparantly the trick is NOT
    to go into the castle, but go by it and continue onwards. They think
    the game is set with 4 castles, 2 in front and 2 behind, and you need
    to clear the 2 front castles. Give that a try if you still have it -
    mine's still on loan and I die MUCH too soon to make it there anyway.

279.6I have the same problem!OTOFS::LALONDEI am EMPOWERED!!!!!!!Mon Nov 25 1991 12:0125
    I bought this game second hand, also.

    I've past the two castles. But a big wall blocks your way. I've tried
    breaking walls to no avail.

    In the first castle, I've tried using the SOS to jump, can't do.
    I managed to just to the right upper wall using SOS, that leads
    nowhere. I noticed when you use SOS, you jump quickly and if you
    continue walking, you'll run.

    Someone has got to know how to past the first castle.

    I believe we need boots of jumping, that are probably hidden somewhere
    before the castle. I thought I found them at this location:

    	There's an entrance to below ground before the first castle, where
    you can get a moon. By traveling towards the castle, after you come
    back up (since you can only go a short way underground), the first
    vertical wall (three blocks high) you touch (make sure you touch it on
    the left side) something flies out of it. Jump over the wall and walk
    to the right and you'll find the item. DO they look like the boots. If
    they are they don't make you jump any higher. Does anyone know what
    this item is?

279.7Going a little further!OTOFS::LALONDEI am EMPOWERED!!!!!!!Wed Nov 27 1991 11:3650
    I got through! Well put it this way, its tougher ahead.

    Spoiler below!

    When you reach the location specified in the previous notes, do the
    following.

    Go directly to the far right, where the little scorpion with the three
    pots of flowers are.

    Don't kill the scorpion, you'll need him in the next step.

    Go back to the water and wait for the little scorpion to show up next
    to you.

    Jump on top of the scorpion and right away jump on top of the above
    wall.

    Go right, climb the stairs.

    This is where it gets tricky, but with practice you'll master it.
    Walk to left and don't stop, at the same time shooting your magic
    continuously. You'll notice that you're little man is running instead
    of walking.

    When you get to the edge of the floor (to your left) jump and try
    landing on the bouncing floor. If you time it right you'll jump and
    land safely on the right ledge and away you go!
