541.0. "Bomberman" by DRIVE::HANAM () Wed Oct 31 1990 14:37

    Does anyone play Bomberman? It's a simple game where you drop bombs
    around a maze to blow up various monsters... the book explains that you
    are trying to get from inner-earth to the surface, and mentions 6
    levels. I've been to level 11 and haven't gotten "out" yet. I have
    noted that a bomb placed on the perimeter after a certain level will
    turn the wall yellow, but haven't blasted a hole in it yet.

    I think there are 50 levels.  Don't expect to get out to anywhere else;
    that's just the "story" behind the game. The game itself is all the
    levels. As levels go on, you will find interesting devices. After
    several levels without getting hurt, you can have very destructive
    powers.

    and interesting devices? so far i've only seen interesting monsters,
    can I expect to get something I can use?

    I don't remember about the walls turning yellow, but you should be
    finding interesting devices. Sometimes when you bomb a wall, an
    interesting looking goodie appears. There are things that make you
    faster, that extend the blast of your bombs, that let you pass through
    walls, that give you multiple bombs at one time, and, best of all, is
    the remote control device. With the remote control, you can drop
    bomb(s) and make them go off when you press the other button. That way
    you can make them go off faster than the normal time, so you can get
    more done quickly. Or you can set up a trap and catch a monster in it.

    There a note in the manual on page 8:

         Exploding bombs may cause temporary discoloration of blocks
         on screen or cause the screen to go fuzzy momentarily. These
         temporary occurrences have no effect on game progress.

541.6rapid fire bombingCSS::JAFFEThu Feb 07 1991 20:087
    My kid found a bug in the program that I was curious as to anyone else
    finding. When you get trapped behind a bomb and sided by 3 walls, and
    continue to hold down the b button, the explosion does not kill
    bomberman, but rather creates a rapid fire continuous explosion that
    you can walk around with. This destroys everything in your path. The
    drawback is that once you release the button, you die. Not a great tip,
    but a fun quirk to fool around with.

     I rented Bomberman and beat the game within 12 hours. After level 50
    you start on level 1 again but with full weapons. It's a great game.
    The save feature is kind of long. You have to type in letters.
    Something like this:

                   AMDFGEPFOLKABACDEPOHFLNMBDPLSJ

     If you make a mistake,you have to enter the string again. It's a pain,
    but at least you can save the game. When you use your save password,
    bomberman returns with only the multi bomb feature.

    Deebs, I finished the game quite a while back, and i don't remember
    starting over after finished level 50... I got a message like "thanks
    for helping bomberman make it to the surface, maybe you'll meet him in
    another game some day..."

    maybe i turned it off too quickly?

    for a simple game, i agree, lot's of fun.

    Guys and Gals,

    I have to say that I have played many games on the SNES but this game
    certainly caught my attention. I would even compare it with my other
    favourite games (Lion King and Blackthorne) that I play all the time.

    Does anybody have any other info about the game and about Bomberman2!!

    Helloooo

    I have just played Bomberman II and I must say that I was very
    dissapointed. Although I enjoyed the game thouroughly I think that it
    is very like the first. but still very injoyable.
