77.0. "Video Game Rentals" by MOMAX1::PILOTTE (It just keeps getting better!) Thu Mar 10 1988 19:20

Seeing that this may become a new way of checking out games, I felt
it deserved it's own Topic. So here it is. Please feel free to
discuss the pro's/con's of renting video games. Also put in here
the name of the rental place, where they are and what the rates
    would be.

Video Library in New Hampshire rents out NES games for either $2

Music Forum in Fitchburg (same shopping center as Rich's) rents
NES games for $2 a night. The catch is, you have to be a member.
Sorry, I can't remember how much the membership costs. They've got
	20 to 25 games available.

I believe that the Music Forum in Gradner also rents, but I haven't
	been there.

Membership at Music Forum is about $50 for a lifetime membership.
They're having this promo right now. You leave a deposit of $50
for a trial period of 90 days. If at the end of ninety days you
like the membership, then you are a lifetime member and the rate
    goes down every year.

Video Encounters in Marlboro, MA offers Nintendo game rentals. When they
first started with some of the older games they were $1.00 for 3 days, but
since they have started adding the latest releases the price has changed.

New releases - $2.00/day except Saturday which includes Sunday
	               for the first 30 days

Older Releases - $1.00 for 3 days, cartridges in store for
                         30 days or greater.

I believe you have to be a member of the Video club for these rates, but
not sure. Yearly video membership is $30.00.

if he had any games he wanted to sell to them...now I'm
not saying they'll do that for everyone (he goes in there
just about every day on his way to work), but it may be

    	someone else's profit.

American Video in Westford MA rents games. They have a large number of
games but they do go fast on weekends. The fee is $2 per day. I don't
think there is a membership fee.

Location: east on 110 (toward Chelmsford) from the intersection of Boston

convenient to King Street and Westford facility people.

For Milrats, there is a place on Nason Street called the
Movie House which has a tremendous selection of Nintendo
cartridges, renting them at $2.50/night for members. I
don't believe they take nonmembers; however, a life-time
membership to the place (rents video tapes and equipement,
including NES equipment) is only a $1.

They also sell NES equipment, including cartridges (a pretty
good selection). Anything that they don't have, they can
order for you. That is how I got Super Mario Brothers II
	and Pacman.

I, myself called up empire video a couple of nights ago and wanted
to rent paperboy and they did'nt have it. Called up Music Forum
and they had 3 copies of it!!! Only prob. was because of popularity
they were $2 a night and $10 for the wk. and that was for members!!
But do agree outside of that they do have probably the largest
selection of games around. The only problem is if you wanted to
rent a game for the week it would cost you more than if you went
to another video store (if you were a member that is). Where I go

If your looking for a good place to rent Nintendo Video games, try the

This store just opened last month, He has the widest section of Nintendo

They charge $2.50 for 2 days, no membership fees.

They even have a Nintendo Deck set-up so you can preview the games before
you rent them. My only problem is tring to get the kids off the
    Nintendo when they go there.

The owners are great, He has developed a network of other stores
