686.0. "NES work with a VR241?" by IW::WARING (Simplicity sells) Tue Oct 29 1991 16:49

My son's asking for a special Nintendo NES package for his birthday in a
couple of weeks time. We have a black and white tv in his bedroom (cheap!)
and a very old VR241 in the cupboard here that I can buy from Digital.

Anyone ever tried connecting a VR241 colour monitor to an NES successfully?

    	VR241? is that the monitor for a vt240?

    	At any rate I doubt it will work, All the DEC color monitors
    	I've seen are RGB and don't accept composite video.

    	Black and White NES is bogus.....
        looks like there will be a new TV in your future....

and having bought an NES yesterday, I think that a colour tv will be
needed. Thanks for the comments...

There was indeed a colour monitor in our future. This birthday is costing a
fortune ;-) ... and that's before he gets fed up with Super Mario Bros,
Tetris and World Cup Football!

fyi - the B&W monitor from a VT240 will display nintendo output just
fine... we hooked up a speaker mounted in an old tissue box...

but yes, color is much preferable... this was just a lab experiment in
nintendo hacking...
