| I purchased SOH two weeks ago and played it on my vacation (while
sunning on the beach in Cancun) an hour or so most days. I am currently
at level 21 and have reached the Underground Castle. I have developed
maps and still remember most of what to do but some things were lost to
the Mexican garbage.
For those interested, SOH is a well structured RPG. Play is VERY
similar to Ultima except that an overhead map while walking is not
available, nor is a location. Each cell gives a title and a small
picture of the location. also on the screen is a menu from which you
cam look, open, hit, use, select magic, or see power. A final section
of the screen appraises you of HP and MP. HP and MP are grown by
defeating enemies, new magic spells are obtained by reaching new levels
as well. Battles are computer waged ala Ultima and can be waged using
an AUTO feature which eliminates a lot of button pushing. Clues are
obtained by "looking" at items in each cell, "opening" chests, and
"hitting" certain things. Clues are usually clear and play is usually
well structured.
Overall, with this being my first RPG on Gameboy that I have played, I
am most impressed. It has held my interest and amused me as much as the
better NES RPG's such as Link, Zelda, Ultima etc have. Certainly the
graphics are limited by the hardware but the software is very playable.
I give it an overall 8.5
Note to -.1 behind FF
Now that you have key "S" you must find Shabow's house. To reach his
house, you must "LOOK" at a cell that has "SURROUND" as an item. Once
you look at the surroundings, it will refer to a path around the mud
and will open up an additional path. Take this path up to Shabow's
house and talk to him and his pigeon. Call or write if you have
additional problems and I'll do what I can.

| My last reply (-.1) was premature in optimism and now I am hoping that
there is another who is playing/has completed Sword of Hope. I am stuck
in the underworld, at level 23, unable to open the underground castle,
and unable to locate the rose garden. Can anyone offer me relief from
desparation.

| I am sort of surprized that no one else is playing SOH. I finished the
game last weekend and had to make a call to the game manufacturer's tip
line to do it. One little tip got me over the hump and, with a little
concentration, concluded the story. I still rate this game a high 8.5
out of 10, equal in every respect to the interest and intensity I
experienced on NES with similar RPG computer simulated battle games.
Well worth the money. If amyone needs help just call.
