653.0. "Faria" by JARETH::EDP (Always mount a scratch monkey.) Thu Jul 25 1991 15:33

    Faria is out (Computer Junction in Milford has it). If anybody buys or
    rents it, please let us know how it is.

    Well, to answer my own request: I asked a Nintendo game play counselor
    about Faria. They said it was good but required a lot of mapping in
    some of the castles/dungeons/whatever. I rented it last night and
    tried the first two towns and the castle. It seemed somewhat
    simplistic in the programming to me -- the graphics, windows, text, and
    mechanics of interaction when buying or talking were a bit raw.

    Fights are action scenes -- when you bump into monsters, the screen
    changes to a "close-up" screen from which you cannot escape until you
    defeat all the monsters on the screen. Faria is a standard
    role-playing game: Go from town to castle to town to tower, collecting
    things and defeating monsters. It may be good, but I'm not going to
    play it further.

    Yes you can escape very easily, but you may loose some items or gold or
    experience points. There's a menu selection that alows you to escape
    from monsters.

    I rented the game yesterday and I agree, you need to map a lot.
