651.0. "Deja Vu" by BRAT::SMITH (Never say never, I always say.) Wed Jul 17 1991 15:33

Deja Vu is a Shadowgate-type game (menu-driven, from the same
	company: Kemco-Seika), but it has a detective story-line. I
found the game to be much easier (I got stuck a lot less) than
Shadowgate. Maybe it was because the things you needed to do
and/or try were more logical in the "real world". No bizarre
things that occur in the world of the supernatural here. It
starts out with you waking up in the stall of a bathroom. You
notice a small puncture wound (the size made from a hypodermic
needle) in your arm, and then realize you can't remember any-
thing. Not even who you are! Naturally, you try to find out
who you are and why you were apparently drugged. As the game
progresses, you also find out about a crime that was committed
that you may or may not have been involved in. Anyway, you
move around in search of clues that you can piece together to
help solve this mystery. I liked it.

    	Slight spoiler follows:

Chappy, you haven't found all the keys yet. As I recall, there
are five all together. How many places have you ridden to in
the cab(s)? It sounds as if you haven't been to all the places
yet, or at least you haven't thoroughly searched the places you
have been. Let me know if you need something more specific.

651.3Nice Person Needed to Help Sleuth!LURE::ADAMSat Sep 07 1991 01:2722
It's been awhile since I have played the game. I would like to beat
it, so I have a couple questions. I have the mystery pieced together:

    Spoiler...

I can't remember all the names, but...
I am Ace Harding. I was framed for the murder of Joey Siegel. It was
set up by Mr. X (I can't remember his name). He wanted Martha Vickers,
But he was married and Joey wouldn't let him have her. So he sent
someone to knock me out and inject me with a memory loss drug. That
someone killed Joey with my gun and planted false papers here and there
so it would look as if Joey told me to kidnap Mrs. X for ransom.
Instead, I supposedly killed Joey because I owed him $1000. Mrs. X was
to suffocate in the trunk, and I was to be arrested. That would leave
    Mr. X to Martha.

I've figured all this out, but can't figure out how to get "dirt" on
Mr. X and prove to the police that I am innocent. Please tell me how!
    Outright Spoiler, definitely!

651.4Get rid of self-incriminating evidence.BRAT::SMITHNever say never, I always say.Mon Sep 09 1991 11:2819

    	Spoiler follows:

    	Adam,

Here's what worked for me: Go down to the bottom of the sewer
where that large pool is, and throw all evidence that incrimi-
nates you into the pool (such as the gun). Burn the paper evi-
dence that incriminates you. I don't think the game will let
you dispose of anything you'll need to "beat" it. Once you've
done these things, go to the Police Station. That'll do it!
