627.0. "Hudson's Adventure Island II" by BAGELS::MATSIS (It aint over till all the snow melts!) Thu Apr 18 1991 17:30

Has anyone tried this game yet? Any reviews. The video store has
it but both copies have been rented out and all copies have been sold
at Electronics Boutique in Nashua. How does it compare to the SMB
    games? Original Island Adventure?

    Thanks, Pam

    Pam,

I bought this one for my son and he loves it. The playability is more
like a Super Mario adventure than anything close to Adventure Island I
One of the things he really loves is the ability to be able to select
islands and save the things you have gathered.

    It looks like fun !!

I was able to rent this game this weekend.

It's good, but definitely not a SMB3. You may want to rent it first.
    The kids did like it a lot. I'd rate it a 7. (SMB3 = 10 IMO)

There are 8 islands. Fern Island, Lake Island, Desert, Ice, Volcano,
Cloud, Dinosaur and Cave. You are able to select the island you
want to at the beginning of the game (right left right left A B A B).
It is challenging enough bug there is too much repitition of areas.
We finished the first two islands (9-14 different areas on each island)
and then tried going to other islands just to see what they looked
like. Each island had the same backgrounds that were found in the
first two islands. Just more bad guys to make it more difficult.
The first 4 areas on Desert Island looked exactly like Fern and Lake
Island and then the rest of the areas looked like you were in a desert.

I rented it about a month ago. I enjoyed it a lot as I'm sure anyone who
has enjoyed the Super Mario series would. It was quite frustrating though
that there seems to be no way to continue except at the beginning of an
island, which means a lot of repitition of different areas. I found it
very challenging in this respect. There are some hidden warp zones, that I
found accidentally which allow you to skip islands. Only one did I find
consistently.

627.4Same game, Same frustration!BALMER::HUNKELERTurn out the LIGHT!Tue Jun 18 1991 10:466
I found that this game is just a frustrating as the first. The only
difference is that you are able to move backward to a certain point
unlike the first Adventure Island. I find it addictive only because
you are so frustrated that you are determined to beat the sucker!
Either that or you throw your nintendo and cartridge across the room!
