594.0. "Best Baseball Game?" by RAYBOK::DAMIANO (Arnold the Battle Pig) Tue Jan 29 1991 15:40

I currently own Nintendo Baseball and Major League Baseball, and the
both leave "something" to be desired. I thought that, before rushing
out to buy a third baseball game, I'd read about the different one's in
    here.

Well, I've read all the replies to all the baseball game notes,
and I've decided to take a poll and get some opinions. Baseball Stars
has the most replies by far, but some of the others (Tecmo Baseball,
Bases Loaded Second Season, etc.) have some fairly enthusiastic
    responses.

So, if all of you that have a opinion/preference would be kind enough
to list your favorite baseball game, perhaps including a description of
why, It would be very much appreciated. That way, I hope to be
reasonably certain that my next $30.00 - $40.00 will be well spent.

    Which one should I buy?

594.2Baseball Stars is #1OTOFS::M_KUNKELWed Jan 30 1991 18:075
Definitely Baseball Stars is #1, the game has a battery backup that
allows you to create and save your team(s) as you play, I have tried
most of the other available games available prior to this past summer
and this game wins hands down.

I've played Bad News Bears Baseball and I think it's one of the
    top baseball games.

Have anybody play R.B.I. 2 the second season, I think that's the
best baseball game for nintendo, that's only my opinion.

I would rent the game 1st. I rented it ( no instructions )
a couple of days ago. Without the instructions you cannot
make intelligent decisions on player selection batting order etc..

As far a play action goes. I found it really tough to bat,
the field of view is from behind the pitcher, judging where
the ball was tough. ( I striked out most of the time )

Can anyone tell me what baseball game is the best. There are so many
out now. When I had the NES (before all my games were stolen), I had
Baseball Stars. It was EXCELLENT. Now I have the SNES and Super
Bases Loaded which is also excellent.

I want to buy a baseball game for my nephews. I want the game with the
best graphics. They're only 6 and 8 years old so having infinite ways
to modify your players isn't important. All they want to play on the
Super Nintendo is baseball. I never thought any game would take them
away from Super Mario World. I bought Bases Loaded II for the NES
for them and tried it out. It SUCKED!!!! The fielders looked like
little blobs, not like men. I returned it and bought Bo Jackson
Baseball. It is MUCH better than Bases Loaded II. I haven't been
able to find Baseball Stars. Why did they stop selling it if it is
    so good?

Has anyone played Bo Jackson? Are there any better baseball games out
there for the NES? How's Roger Clemens? Bases Loaded III ?

    Thanks, Pam

Cause SNK put it onto their 32 bit Neo Geo System. To play Baseball Stars
now, you only have to shell out about $600 for the system, and another $150
for the game.

I personally like the play of RBI baseball as do (does?) my nephews and
nieces. Graphics aren't great, but play is good. Baseball Stars in the
best though. Even just play wise.

Nintendo is notorious for making limited production runs of their
    games.

I have Baseball Stars and after checking out the
others they just don't compare. I also have simulator
1000, it's ok if you want to change of pace. You have
different powers. A pitcher who throws a fast ball can
not be hit cause it burns right through you bat. Then you
can throw a pitch that stops for 2 seconds before it
reaches the batter causing him to swing early and so on.
I tried the new Roger Clemons baseball, it's ok for the
graphics. You can not beat the computer. It also doesn't
store the stats. It has a feature where you can ask Roger
for help but he keeps giving the same advice! I feel this
    		game isn't worth the $50.

Anyone try the Roger Clemens Baseball yet? The gimmick on this one is
"over the shoulder fielding" according to the sales literature.

Ok I found Roger Clemens BAseball to rent. I played it last night.
I like a lot of the features of this game. One big problem..

HOW DO YOU HIT??? I'm having bigtime problems swinging fast enough to
    hit the fastball..

    Has anyone else played this?

I PLAYED FOR ABOUT 4 HRS....

What I did was think every pitch is a fastball and I swang as soon
as he lets the ball go. I still lost every game though. I didn't like
it. The graphics are really no better than BL or RBI.

I did like the names for the players though. Yankee 1b
Donningly, 2b Clarinet, Ha I was roaring.

I rented it, didn't care much for it. Had the same problem with
hitting. I did like the fielding perspective. Baseball Stars
is still the best in my opinion.

Anyone happen to play a new game called Classic Basebal stars or
something along those lines. Supposed to be all the all time
greats? Say it and thought I'd ask before I disappointed like
    from Clemens.

594.21Is BASEBALL STARS 2 related to BASEBALL STARS? SSGV01::CHALMERSMore power!Tue Dec 08 1992 15:1225
In scanning all the notes on baseball-related games, BASEBALL STARS by
SNK seems to generate the greatest number of favorable responses, so
I tried to find one to give to my nephew as a Christmas gift.

I was unable to locate it (apparently it's no longer in production),
but I came across a game called BASEBALL STARS 2, manufactured by a
company called Romstar (or Ramstar?) Nothing on the packaging indicates
any connection to SNK, and only gives a passing reference to the
original version: "if you liked Baseball Stars, you'll love BASEBALL
STARS 2 (tm)..." or something to that effect. There isn't even an
acknowledgement such as "Baseball Stars is a registered trademark of
    SNK".

What's bugging me is whether or not this is truly an enhanced version of
the original, or whether Ramstar (Romstar) is taking advantage of some
copyright loophole with the original BS.

Is anyone familiar with this 'new' game and able to clear up my
    confusion?

    Thanks in advance.

    Freddie
