568.0. "Battle Tank" by SPIKED::SWEENEY () Thu Dec 27 1990 15:43

Moderator: Looked for a note on this, but didn't find one. If I missed it,
please delete, and set this as a reply.

Anywho, rented this cartridge over the weekend, and liked what I saw.

It's a tank simulation of an Abrams (sp?) M1. You sit in the gunners position
and you're able to drive the tank also. You can shoot regular cannon, wire
cannon (won't miss), smoke, or 50 calibre machine gun. Each has different
characteristics and effectiveness. You also have a limit on the ammo and
fuel.

You have 10 missions to complete. Each mission gets progressively harder. You
start out with a few tanks, and add to the number, and also get helicopters to
fight also.

Only one continue, and no passwords or ways to skip the levels already
conquered. Level three and above require you to blow up an enemy "stronghold"
after clearing the board of the other enemy tanks and choppers.

The choppers and tanks become easy to kill after a little practice. The one
stronghold I keep running into won't even take a single hit before I get
creamed however. If someone has suggestions, let me know.

Graphics of the tanks, choppers, buildings are good, but the land bares a
striking resemblance to ATF Stealth. Strange that the developer of this one
just happened to work on that project also.

Good but not great game overall. I'd rate it a 6 or 7. If you're into
simulation type games, this would be one you'd like. If you figure away to
kill the stronghold, please let me know, I'd like to do it in.

Does anybody else have more info on this game? I'm thinking of using my
$5.00 rebate coupon to help buy it, and I'd be gratefull to any
    additional information.

The box reads well, but at $34.99, I'm just not sure.
